An update from a previous post. I erased, re-formatted, and resynched by zune80 last night but I didn't see any changes in my counts or plays, however, just within the last ten minutes, I have seen my counts jump from 3108 this morning to 3275 this afternoon. It would appear that the re-format has taken care of my device play count problem. I will double check later after work just to make sure. On a side note, the format also fixed a problem I had with track times not progressing past 0.00. Just FYI. Cheers.

I will try again after doing a re-format then.

It's enabled on my device and linked properly here, and the play counts from the device are still broken.

Try this: on your device, go to "settings - wireless - information" and make sure it says "Zune Marketplace is enabled for <zune tag>" or "This device is linked to <zune tag>". This ensures your credentials are on the device, which is required for plays to count.

My Zune states that "Zune Marketplace is enabled for <my zune tag>"... Furthermore, I haven't changed any settings on the player or software - the only difference between now and 3 weeks ago (when the playcount last worked) is the new 3.0 software/firmware. I've tried every tip posted on these forums, including renaming the old database file and starting from scratch, re-linking my Zune and your latest suggestion above. Sadly, the playcount is still broken.

Yup. It's says "Zune Marketplace is enabled for Mohss", which is weird because Zune Marketplace isn't available in Canada yet. :)

Unlinked, relinked, played = nothing
going through all 10,000 songs and removing all non-standard characters = nothing.

re: Do you think your device plays don't count?
Sorry, but despite following the steps, my device counts are not increasing either. I have not received any errors when synching and have even gone so far as to reformat my device, but no luck. Thanks for trying. Patiently waiting for a resolution. Cheers...

Yes, mine seem to have stopped again also.

It's disheartening when I see posts saying "things should be working now" and yet still my device count updates are sporadic at best.

hm.. i've renamed every umlaut, accent mark, upside-down ? and !, formatted my zune and "forgotten the device" then re-added it and everything. what about * marks? also, i can't find ZuneStore.sdf to delete, or whatever was previously suggested.

i broke my zune back in may and sent it in last month to get it fixed. since having it back, nothing's been added from my device plays, and i'm stuck with music i don't even listen to anymore as my favorites. frustrating.

Find the hidden file “zunestore.sdf” – you’ll have to show hidden files and folders.

If you’re on Vista, it’s at C:\Users\<your username>\appdata\local\microsoft\Zune -> replace <your username> with whatever you log in with.

If you’re on XP, it’s C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune.
