Confirmed on my 120.  I've had multiple freezes - 1 or 2 a day for the last 2 weeks - while navigating through menus to pick other songs, and it happens NOT just during the last few seconds of what's currently playing.  A simple reset gets me back up and running, but the frequency of the issue is becoming annoying.

As a side note, I notice that the problem only happens when I'm on battery power.  I notice this because I have my zune in a dock all day at work and I have never had a freeze there.  It only freezes in my car on the ride home or when I'm walking my dogs.  Don't know if that's just coincedence, but I've never had it freeze when docked or connected via USB to my PC. 

Hope this is fixed soon as it's the only downside to my 120.

*Sigh confirmed zune 8 is there a way to downgrade to the old firmware??

I am also experiencing this problem.  It seems to be intermittent, but it happens more times than not.  My problem doesn't seem to be limited to freezing during the last 10-15 seconds of playing a song; it will freeze no matter what point of a song I am in.  But it seems to happen most of the time when I am at the end of a song since I usually wait to select another song when the current song playing gets towards the end.  While a song is playing, if I try to go out to the list, select another song/album/artist, and click OK to play the song, the highlighted option stays highlighted, and that's where it freezes.  The only way to unfreeze it is to perform the reset (Back & Up).
I have tried completely initializing the disk and reinstalling the 3.0 firmware, recopying music back to the player, and I still experience the same exact issue.
I have a first generation Zune 30 player.

Seriously, if they don't fix this by XMAS they are going to get a crapload of returns when people think their Zune is broken - while its really the firmware thats broken!  In addition to the freezing, my lossless WMAs skipping now and then isn't exactly a fun "upgrade," either.

Worst part is, the FW upgrade is mandatory!  :-/

I would expect this update by the holidays, at least I certainly hope so cause they might be selling a lot of Zunes then.

Yep having the exact same problem... I have a zune 120GB it's annoying me because the last 15 or so seconds of a track is usually when I search and start playing a new track.

I'm glad to hear that Microsoft are aware of the problem and are going to fix it in a future firmware update... lets hope it comes soon! This is my first zune and it's great if it wasn't for the annoying freezing issue. Pleeease fix soon.
