Hey
at first, sorry for my bad english, i´m from denmark...
well, I got a brown 30GB Zune and right now, its battery has no power. I always read about pushing "back", "left" and "ok" ant the same time in "that" moment... which moment? while my Zune is loading? If I do that, sometimes the display becomes black and i hear some strange sounds from inside (I think its te HD)... and then...nothing :(
If I stop holding the keys, it restarts and freezes at 100%...
I love my Zune so much more than my iPod and now I have to hear music with my iPod :(
so I thanked you, if you reply :) :)

re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.

It should only take a few minutes to clear the contents. If it's still on the clearing contents screen after any real length of time do a hard reset again at this point. As long as you have a decent charge it should start up fine (blank but fine). Then it will prompt you to plug into PC and reload firmware by opening Zune software on your computer. Once you do that you will see that the device is in recovery mode. Re-Load  firmware and everything should be fine.

I have already taken my battery out as well. Do I have to wait 24 hrs? Can't I pop it open agian (I've gotten good at it) and then do the sequence to dump the contents?

re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.
I'm new to the forum. This is a general post: THANKS A WHOLE H377A LOT for everyones assistance with this issue. I FINALLY got my Zune operational again. I really thought I was up isht's creek without a paddle! No Thanks goes out to Microsoft...they gave very useless assistance.

I did have to do a hard reset to catch the 'back, left + OK' button sequence before the Zune load screen. Since I had to purchase a new battery in October I was already familiar with opening up my Zune. Thanks again. Thank goodness for this forum too!!!
