C'mon pal, if you dont have anything better to do with your time than to argue with other forum members then you need to develop a hobby.
Either join the effort to get the percentage of zunes that arent working fixed, or else go back to work, reading your book, or whatever it is you do in between your attacks on other forum members.  You are not helping the situation at all.

Never 'hate' to share your opinion.

That being said, that other poster has a point.  Zunes not working is NOT the end of the world.  Minor problem, yes.  Lawsuit inducing mayhem?  Give me and the rest of us tax payers a break.  That's the problem nowadays.  "Oh, I stubbed my pinky toe! I'm going to the sue the company that laid the concrete there!"  It's getting ridiculous.  You don't start screaming "Lawsuit!!" after two days.  Hell, if M$ doesn't hop on this in AT LEAST two weeks, then you have a true class action suit.

I agree with waiting to give them time to come up with a fix.  In another post, someone had mentioned that MS tech support was saying that calling back after this week might be more fruitful.  And in response to that, I said that I had no problem giving them another week.  Hell I'd have no problem giving them two.  But the fact remains that officially, they have given no indication that they are working on the problem aside from saying that it will resolve itself.  And for the majority of zune owners, it has.  Again, I am willing to give them some time.  What's a few more days without music on the go?
But laying the plan and getting our ducks in a row in the meantime cant hurt.  If MS puts out a fix, then great, I'm happy to have made the phone calls and gathered the information for nothing.  Otherwise.....I'd like to be prepaired.

As for tax payers.....juist how much of your tax dollars do you think this would take?  The answer to that is none.  In a pro bono civil suit the losing party pays all court costs.  Not the tax payers, so that isnt even a valid concern.

I'm going to call again..only to be told to try formatting ...guessing based on my first call. I read that format did not work as it gets stuck as well??

Why wont Zune/MS release a fix for the problem?

If you could still see a battery icon, you weren't fully discharged, so the zune is still frozen at that point- the bug is a software infinite loop that only occured at the wrong (12/31) date during leap year.  Discharging fully gets the software loop to stop running (the software stops) and restarting on a 'valid' date doesn't get trapped in that loop.  They will fix it eventually, but there is something else also affecting some users and I suspect they're focused on that right now...

Formatting won't fix this bug...unless something else is also going on.  Some folks have reformatted and reloaded the firmware and claimed success.  My theory is that they wasted that effort- to put the device into that mode, they had already gotten out of the frozen state...

Investments? You mean the whole $150 you spent minimum 2 years ago? Seriously you guys need to get off this stupid lawsuit nonsense. What damages do you have? How much do you think zune 30 gigs sell for? $50 max? You actually think a lawyer would take this case when maximum he can get per person is $50 or less? How about getting a job and buying a new one?

It really isn't important in the legal sense how much the investment is.

Good luck with that lawsuit how are you going to argue the fact you took your zune apart and now it doesnt work? All you had to do was just not touch it for 2 days and everything would have been fine. If a lawyer "jumps" at this case then he is just as delusional as you are and should not be practicing law. We have enough of this frivilous nonsense lawsuit junk going on without some moron crying about his old ass mp3 player didnt work for 3 days. Then people wonder why americans are the joke of the free world. Spoiled.

Also the 32 gig IPOD is what $500 or maybe its more I cannot remember. I can buy 2 120 gig Zune players for that.

only $399 for 32GB touch. $249 for the 120GB IPOD classic:-)

Still too much. The touch is the nice one the ipod classic is really a hunk of garbage compared to the Zune in my opinion. I have purchased a 30, 80 and now 120 and this is the first issue ever. Get free firmware updates etc to me its better than anything but the ipod touch which is way too expensive for me. I just listen to music and watch some videos I dont need the touch.
