New update. my playcount just jumped from 9332 to 10459, a 1127 jump. That seems like it bridged the gap from 3.0 update to now. Sweet! I'm very excited, thanks for your hard work.

Mine jumped too. Device plays seemingly showing up now.

It just updated on the site for me. I anticipate that the count in the Zune software should be reflecting the correct count soon.

So, what exactly was the problem, Jennifer? And thanks very much for your attention to this issue over the past few weeks.

re: Re: re: Do you think your device plays don't count?

I connected my Zune differently than I normally do. I usually load the Zune software and then connect my Zune device. I don't have it set up to load the Zune software when I connect the device. Today I booted my computer and connected my Zune device. I checked email and such and then I loaded the Zune software. When it loaded I saw the number of plays jumped up by over a 1000! It should not matter what order this is done, but it worked for me this time. Either that, or something was fixed and the device plays were counted again.

Played two songs on my device now (Salvia no Hana and Natsu no Mirage by Kanako Wada) and both showed on my profile. Looks like it's working fine now.

>>Edit: I should note that it's still not up to date. it's about a week or less out. I was listening to Radiohead either last Friday or this past Monday.

Jessica, I tried unlinking/relinking and that did not resolve the issue.  For fun, I installed VirtualBox and loaded a fresh copy of XP SP3 onto it.  I installed the Zune software and linked my Zune to it.  My play count still did not update but when I came into work this morning I re-linked my Zune to my work laptop (where my Zune is normally linked) and my play count updated, at least on the website.  The Zune software still shows my old play count, although my recent songs list is at least partially updated (it doesn't show the tracks I played yesterday or this morning yet).

Update:  My play count finally updated in the Zune software.

Jessica, allow me to repeat myself and say - you are made of awesome, and by that I mean that you're as awesome as you are beautiful.  I did the unlink/relink thing again tonight, and this time, it worked.  My playcount jumped by a factor of 700 or so, and I see that all of my recent Zune device plays are now added.  Kudos to you, and to the Zune staff who got things working again.

Okay, thanks for letting me know. Others who have linked/relinked their devices to their tags and the device shows that it's linked, I want to hear from you too - both if it works and if it doesn't.

Try this: on your device, go to "settings - wireless - information" and make sure it says "Zune Marketplace is enabled for <zune tag>" or "This device is linked to <zune tag>". This ensures your credentials are on the device, which is required for plays to count.

I checked and mine says the same as others "Zune Marketplace is enabled for..." It is linked to me. I unlinked and linked again, but still it does not increase the plays for the device. It always worked in the past. It stopped working when I loaded version 3.0.

My updates must have been coincidence then or perhpas there was something else wrong with my zune. Oh well, at least the reformat fixed my play progression problem...(thats the cup half full bit). Glad to see they are fixing things though. Cheers.
