All I'm sayin' is, let's not call for Gates' head on a stick yet. LOL!!
Dude, why would I want Gate's head on a stick? there isnt enough frabreze to take out that kind of stink :P
I just want to see MS make a public statement of accountability and at least offer the registered Zune 30g owners, whether still in their first year and under warranty or not, some sort of gesture of good will to let us know they value our patronage and want us to continue doing business with them.
I understand that the 30g brisk is old and rapidly growing obsolete (although my wife liked my original zune better than her 80gig ipod, heh), and I do realize that it's depreciated in value considerably, but....let's just say the Evil Empire were to offer original Zune owners a customer loyalty certificate worth say, $50? Hell even $20 would be awesome, towards a newer generation of the Zune...
The point being that this would establish to the loyal Zune fans and current customers that the product is stood behind and while there may or may not be many reasons why they cant be fixed, mostly due to post-issue customer invalidation of warranty which was only committed because of the leap year flaw in the first place, then even non-zune fans and non-MS customers would be given a reason to see this in a more positive light. It's simple manufacturer courtesy to extend a gesture of good will to the current customer base when something like this happens to retain brand loyalty amongst the customers and potentially grow the customer base.
And it makes the customers feel more appreciated and that their loyalty is highly valued. Which causes repeat business. And ultimately, for a company with the goals Microsoft has, repeat business is the long term sustenance that the company needs to survive.
