Why do we need to continue to ask for this?
I'm a software developer and I cannot imagine why they won't give this to us. If they did it right, then when they converted everyone's old ratings, they still used the 5 star model but translated it into hearts. If this is the case, then it's an incredibly easy and seem-less thing to do. If they didn't, then they can easily convert to this.
A 5 star rating, on the backend, would support both the hearts and the 5 star ratings. Think about it, broken heart = 1 star, no heart = 3 stars, heart = 5 stars. Then you could have a simple preference to toggle back and forth.
Seriously, this makes no sense why Zune does not support a 5 star rating system. Vista, Media Player, and many other pieces of Microsoft software support and use the 5 star rating system. Why the Zune team needs to be inconsistent, I have no idea but it ruins the user experience and makes things NOT seem-less.
This thread perfectly proves my point, too. My idea gives everyone what they want. Currently, only a portion of people are getting what they want.
To be perfectly honest, why would you keep songs you "don't like", anyway? I can imagine rating them 1 star if you think they're okay or not very good but why would anyone actually keep songs they don't like? That doesn't make any sense to me.
