Um, what!?

Maybe the reason it doesn't read protected content from Napster and Rhapsody is because -- oh, I don't know -- it's protected content!? There are plenty of ways you could get music for the Zune (amazon, zune pass, zune marketplace, iTunes Plus, etc). For the USB device not recognized thing, did you try the steps on this page?

If you're having a legitimate issue with your Zune and just took the time to really outline what the problem was, there are quite a few of us here who are willing to try to help you through it.

try to reset the 80 back to factory settings if that wont try a site zune 2009 it has a 50 page hand book that i havent been able to down load yet otherwise id look it ut 4 you

hey my friend i am in the same situation...and my zune says everything u r sayin' just connect it to the pc and restore it...man i really wish that i was in your situation...because mine froze on "please wit" so...

My 30gig says the same thing and is constantly making a little ticking noise, like a,"tick, ti, ti, tick" in like a 1 second time period, it's really annoying.... i've had alot of problems with zune ever since I got it...

I'm having the same problem now.  I personally think it has something to do with harddrive failure of somekind.  I've had problems with it ever since I got it with skipping of music/not being able to find files/pixelated screen during videos/freezing/rebooting/ect...  I just lost the receipt and then grew to lazy to actually repair it.

Mines also been through hell though to the point where I couldn't legitly replace it anyway (dropped it from about 15 feet 9 months ago, broke apart everywhere, I picked up the pieces and threw it back together and it still ran like the day I bought it with all those problems).  I don't know if anyone else had the static popping in the left ear, but looking at websites they say that the zune 80 was not designed correctly to ground itself and that was the reason for it.  There's multiple problems with mine, but with the contact support error it seems like the harddrive.  I can press all the buttons to reset, but when it comes time to clear/reinstall firmware it goes to contact support.

I'll probably just buy an ipod tomorrow, so no big deal.

*edit* oh snap..  happend exactly 1 day after the warrenty would have ran out for it anyway.  good job microsoft.  wonder if that's programmed....

really any help on this would be appreciated. Mine started freezing on me yesterday.  I did not want to do a reset on it as it I had 941 songs on it or thereabouts... I tried the reset and it would never get off screen 4 for the longest time. now it is going to screen 3, then briefly to screen 4, and now it is stuck on screen 5. the only difference is that I did not drop my zune at all prior to this

My Zune had the same problem today.

It had fell out my lap, and dropped like 2 feet the floor. Then the 5 Contact Support message came up. I turned my Zune on and off a couple of times, and finally it had went back to normal, but it froze up and turned back off.

Next, it came back on, and instead of it displaying 5 it said 3 please wait, so I waited and then my Zune restarted, and now its says 1 connect Zune to PC.

What should I do? Is it trying to fix itself or what?

Your Zune has encountered an unrecoverable error. You're gonna have to send it in for repair (if it's under warranty).

"5 contact support" that is all my 80 has said for the past two months. i know its been a minute but i had a baby girl. so no time. i tried to do what the promts ( reset, then back,d-pad, and play all at once) said but still nothing. the screen said "please wait."but then back to "5 contact support". tried it like three times.can someone help me please?!?
