Am I wrong to think it makes a lot of sense for Microsoft Synch in Ford cars and trucks to work seamlessly with Microsoft Zune devices?

Am I wrong to think that it currently does not?

Anybody heard anything about Zune/Synch integration work?  I love Ford products and will be buying another one in the next year.  Do I need to wait until a certain timeframe to make sure my Synch works with my Zunes?

Q1:  No you're not wrong.  Q2:  As far as I know, it works well.  Search the forums, there are a few threads on this (not many) and as I recall, no complaints...other than buying a new car to support your Zune is a bit...um...expensive.
And, search on Sync, not Synch.

I would love to use an aux cable, but on my stereos, they are tucked in the back behind the dash. Plus, with a modulator, it'll be easy to swap the Zune from car to truck. Man I gotta get one....

The FM modulators from Monster work great, but the ones from Belkin haven't worked well for me. The direct connect is the best way to go. Had mine hooked up when I hooked up my satellite radio, so I'm never without music. Good luck.

I have an FM modulator for my car.........

My wife has an older headset in her car and it has a tape deck (Yes its an older one !) I use the cassette tape adaptor that has the 3.5mm jack attached for that one.

I will be getting a new truck soon and will use the following for my Zune in car connection:

Like I said...doesn't work.  Car stereos aren't Zune friendly yet, but hopefully some day.  I think the only stereo I've heard mentioned that is compatible is maybe the ford factory stereo with voice activation.

I just wanted to be clear that it is dependent on the specific stereo and what devices they support.
And the Ford system you are thinking of is called 'Sync'

Hooking a Zune to a stereo by the USB will not work.  Stereo will put up an error stating that it isn't a compatible usb device.

It can work...but it has to be a 'zune compatible' stereo.  USB works because the head end (USB master) has a USB driver specific to the USB slave (the device) that tells it what the heck the device is and what it can do with it.  So, adding a USB device to a PC (for instance) is easy...you either have the driver (bundled with the OS) or you do an install that includes the driver.  Doing that for a car stereo is...um...generally not possible.  iPods are so ubiquitous that many USB enabled stereos support them...  Zunes are not yet quite so popular... Sad [:(]

re: playin a Zune with your car stereo?
I've had some good results using an FM transmitter I picked up from Wal-Mart (I think) for $30.  It works with the Zune, iPod, generic MP3 player, or anything with a head phone jack.  I'm getting anxious to get a newer car that will hopefully have a front side AUX jack that you can just plug into.  My wife's car has one, and it's great.  This eliminates any static and occasionally having to change stations on the transmitter.
