re: Having problems signing in

I've been having trouble signing in for days now, and the troubleshooter isn't helpful at all. I'm seriously going into withdrawals here.

Since installing the zune software it appears ALL microsoft software on my computer thinks i am not connected to the internet... which the exception of outlook and the marketplace(not the sign in servers) on the zune software... i think i'm going to uninstall the zune software and cut my losses.




EDIT:   hahaha ... so looks like zune was trying to sabotage itself... went to internet explorer and the "work offline" option was magically checked even though i haven't used internet explorer in months! now my gadgets work again and i can sign into zune software... odd bug...

Still not able to sign in, i dont think it's about the account, I can log in to the marketplace from my zune directly and here and everyhwere else microsoft. just not from the zune software.

I've been having some assorted anomalies on my computer since installing the zune software... i'm starting to wonder if there's some kind of microsoft spyware type stuff or something more than one would expect from a media playing/downloading/syncing software. one of my widgets/gadgets for the weather just stopped being able to connect with it's server after installing the zune software and every so often my computer just slows up for a minute or two... something that never happened before I installed the zune software...

why didn't microsoft just use windows media player for the zune anyway? at least that program is relatively stable and already had most of the functions necessary already.

I'm going to guess that my problem with signing in has to do with the fact that I'm using a broadband modem purchased outside the US. I'm still out of the US. Any suggestions for getting Zune to recognize that kind of internet connectino.

I am also having intermittent problems signing in... sometimes it works, but most of the time it says cannot sign in. However I can obviously sign in to the Zune website to post this...

Yeah, I have had this problem for like 3 months now. Nothing I do is working. Every time i try to sign in i get the and unknown error has occured please click on web help I tried canceling my windows live account and getting a new one but still nothing, so when ever someone comes up with a solution please let me know.

I've had the same problem but only for 3 days. Hopefully it gets fixed soon because it's very annoying not being able to sign in. I wonder if all my plays will be counted afterward. I'm not going to hold my breath.

[EDIT] I had a technician remotely clear my pc from viruses and then I was able to sign back in on the Zune software.

Add me to this list of dissatisfied customers. I bought my first non-ipod and now I regret it. First I had some inane terms of service issue(it wanted me to agree but gave me no opportunity to agree)then once i finally got that fixed it let me sign in from the zune software one time, I chose some stuff to download for my free 2 week zune pass trial and went to bed with my zune syncing and the stuff downloading. I woke up and only the music already on my computer had synced to my zune, the stuff i lined up to download from the marketplace through the zune software just never downloaded. tried opening and closing the zune software and when i tried to sign in i just get that same error message with the original id 80048051.

Since then I have done everything on that help page and still nothing. I can sign in zune.net fine from a browser and I can access the internet through the zune software( i know this because i can browse the marketplace sucessfully through the zune software i just can't sign in to buy anything) so it's pretty surely NOT a firewall issue... i dont really see how it could be an issue which stems from my computer since i am able to browse the marketplace just not sign in.

I'm just astounded that this is the experience microsoft rewards us with for choosing them over the ipod. I should've known better. I like how my zune looks, and it seems to work equally well as my old ipod... but so far it's just a huge hassle to do even basic things with it. 

I haven't been able to sign for over a week. I'm tired of the "Please be patient" message. I am ready for at least we are working in it. I have not seen any real acknowledgment from MS or Zune that there is a problem, which there obviously is.  Hellllooo?! anybody out there at MS looking at these posts??????

Chalk me up to the list as well, I haven't been able to successfully surf the Marketplace or download music all week; I've done a clean boot through MSconfig, checked all of my security software, and still no results. Grr.

Add me to the list.  Tried to log in and can't.  Tried iTunes and got the songs I wanted. Can't say I am going to keep hitting my head against a brick wall anymore. iTunes from here out.
