When you connect the device for the first time to your computer, make sure that it's linked to the email account you use to log into your Social profile.

So I bought my friend's Zune...

How can I set it up so his plays don't count on my Zune Card? I have no use for the old Zune now and will eventually sync the newer one to my profile...once I figure this out.
