re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.
My zune crashed dec 31.  It worked again on jan 1.  Than crashed again several days later.  I couldn't get it to reboot.  It would just freeze up all over again.  So I tried to wipe everything as advised by microsoft in the forums.  It got hung up in that process and became even worse.  I called Zune support the next day and explained the situation very calmly.  He agreed to issue me a repair # and sent me a box to ship my zune to the repair center.  Zune repair was not able to repair my unit so they replaced it.  Although it is black instead of the brown one that I originally had.  But I am glad that Zune (Microsoft) stepped up and did the right thing.  So happy in fact that I bought a 120 gb unit and gave the 30 gb to my daughter and signed up for zune pass.  I hope my zunes last for a reasonable amount of time as they are very capable devices.  Thanks Zune and Microsoft for stepping up and doing the right thing.

re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.
You guys arent paying attention to what he said! You have to do the button press trick before the zune starts to load. as soon as you see the logo do the buttton combo and 2 seconds later it erases the drive and asks you to plug it into the computer and reinstall the firmware. Im here to say that it does work!! After a month of microsofts crap, someone finally had the answer. Pay attention!! dont wait for the load bar to press the buttons, as soon as you see the logo but before the load bar starts to move across the screen! Its not that hard people!! Learn how to read instructions! If you try this and it doesnt work then you prolly bricked it by doing something you werent supposed to or it just gave up and died on you, if this is the case Im sorry, I truly am. Be patient it took me 3 try's to get it right but it did finally work, it's abit tricky to get the timing right but dont give up on the one thing that microsoft has gotten right in all these years!

This is just great. With all of this draining and charging, now I get an "error 5" message when it does charge! What a bunch of BS!

just talked to tech again, they said microsoft will make a decision on what to do in about a week.  And to keep checking the website for what they say.  I can't get mine to even charge anymore.  This is crazy and why a week to decide??

re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.
I have tried letting the battery die and turning it back on 10 times.  I even let the battery drain overnight.  I have also tried resetting it by pushing back, left, and ok at the start up screen...  And MY ZUNE STILL IS NOT WORKING!!!  Microsoft needs to address this issue!  My Zune is nothing more than an expense paperweight right now!!!

re: Those of you with STILL frozen Zune.

I was on the phone with a service rep last night and the guy specifically said several times to NOT clear your zune. *shrug*

For me clearing it would be pointless because the whole reason i want my zune unfrozen is to save my files. I don't have a recent backup because my laptop unexpectedly crashed a week ago. The files are my worry, not the zune. I can always buy another mp3 player. My files? Not so easy.

But my zune is STILL FROZEN. I drained the battery 3 seperate times. I plugged it into the sync cable the second time, but I've used the wall charger for the first and last. This last time, my zune was not repsonding to any button pressing for nearly 24 hours (no ! popping up, just a black screen). I plugged it into the wall charger and once it charged...it locked up again!!

Microsuck really better make good on this. It's a problem with the product, they are at fault. My zune was working perfectly minutes before it froze on the 31st. DX
