is this happening again?? i thought this nightmare was over. My zune just froze 10 minutes ago and it dont wanna turn on...has this happened to anyone else>????

I used the device manager. Go to run and type in "devmgmt.msc" and it shout show up. I'm about a few minutes away from buying an MP3 player that actually works; I've never had one that is as unreliable as a zune.

Yes, my zune software can't detect my device either and I have gone through most of the troubleshooting steps for if your zune isn't detected and my PC does but not the zune software.


How are you seeing your zune through windows?

I also have this problem. I've let my zune die and then I plugged it back in and when the battery charged enough to start up it started to boot up and got stuck with the loading bar at 100%. I did the fix for my zune yesterday and it was working fine; however, today after it boots up there is a black screen for about 5 minutes then it goes to the normal menu. After that I can listen to songs, but there is a lot of lag and the album art and slider won't even change sometimes; when I try to navigate the main menu it just freezes and I have to restart it. This is really pissing me off, I have never had so many problems with an MP3 player before.

Mine started working yesterday after I followed the MS official fix. Then today, same problem. Now waiting for the battery to die again.

Wondering why my device audio skips on some videos in 3.0

Thank you for pointing me to the zuneboard link.  It worked and I was able to re-install the firmware and re-sync my Zune 30 Brown.

That is almost verbatim what I was told.
And it didn't work for me, either.
And I'm out of warranty, so may be screwed.

I finally got my zune to work. I used the method to reformat and re-install the firmware. I will never recommend a piece of junk like the Zune period Angry [:@].

He instructed me that once you have let it go as far as it can, just keep hitting the play/pause button until you no longer see the (!) icon.
"That could take 100 pushes."
THEN, you're zune is drained.

I already did that..........it DID NOT work. Sounds like most got fixed by waiting a day.....the others.....like me.....are, I am willing to bet, SOL. There is a lemon law for cars. Maybe we need one just for MS.
