Set the computer you won't be using as home, then sign in as guest on your former/real home computer. You should get the opition screen everytime you plug back in, unless you hit the "always log in as guest" button. I still haven't hit that as I hope a future software version will allow me to go home without all the problems home has now.Smile [:)]

You'll have to manually sync everything once you're a guest, but that's simple. Files will still show up on the collection part of the software just like they do now, but won't sync until you tell them too. Just right click and then click "sync to [device name]" or drag and drop them on the Zune icon in the lower left corner to sync.

so when i'm on the guest account i can delete stuff from my collection, sync it later on and the files will still be on my zune AND add more stuff to the device?  the bottom line is that once i put the stuff on the zune i don't want it on the computer anymore.

Before you go installing the software on another computer or creating another user account, have you tried this guest sync procedure (link <-- In that specific order) for forgetting your device?

Then it didn't really forget it and you'll have to set another computer as home. Just be sure that it doesn't start syncing everything from where you set up at. Definitly do it on a computer you'll probably not use again (maybe try installing Zune software on a library comp.)Devil [6] I'm not sure how a computer that has someone else set to home would respond, it might just assume you are a guest and not give you the opition screen. Getting that screen is the only thing that matters.

re: deleting

The easiest way to set up as a guest is click "forget this device" and hope it does. It should give you the home/guest opition sign-in page next time you plug in, although that never worked for me.

What does work for sure is to set another computer, one that you probably will never use with your Zune, as the home. Then every time you plug back into your computer, you'll get the opition screen and can just be a guest. I did it with my girlfriend's laptop and have loved my Zune ever since.

Sorry but once you hook it up and if the songs are not on the collection, the crappy ass zune will delete it from the device.  There's another thread that tells you how to "fix it" but it doesn't.  I just tried it and it's still deleting my videos.  I don't understand why i need songs on the computer in order for it to appear on the device.  This software is a joke.

Set yourself up as a guest, it's the only way that does work. I hear you lose marketplace and podcasts, which doesn't bug me as I use neither. If you still want to use those, I think you're stuck until the future version that will do away with "Sync".
