re: An invitation to help me design a new feature
Since we're limiting our focus to JUST the Zune Social (and more specifically, the web page), I won't worry with mentioning things like meta-data editing within the zune software, firmware features, etc. The main thing that I've been missing with the social is that as a music-driven social community, I should be able to make the site my one-stop shop for ALL things related to the music I like and listen to. The zune-card tracking my plays and whatnot is a good start, but as it stands, the forum is the only reason I really come to zune.net (and that only for accessory reviews and posts from the dev teams). I'd love to have a Myspace-like page that I could update/edit. Even if it was something that only I could see, I'd love to be able to link my favorite artists with RSS feeds to their blogs or concert dates or to be able to see other listeners of the same groups in my general area on a VirtualEarth-style map. If I could get access to this kind of info all in one customizable place (especially if I could view it from the Zune PC software while listening to my music), I probably wouldn't know what to do with myself!

re: An invitation to help me design a new feature
ok well heres my idea. you konw how games are getting added to zune. well maybe when were in a wifi area you can link the zune to our gamertags. so when our friends who are playin xbox could see if were on,what we are playing on our zune-like wat games were playing wat song were listening too. also puting the zune card on the device itself would be cool. o and going back the to gamertag linking you could see wat your friends are doing so if you have people who have zunes and there in a wifi area and your in a wifi area you can look at your friends list and see wat there listening too.
also if you could make the market place better buy adding a meta tagger for videos so we can place videos in the right catigory so my tv shows show up under tv shows. also a wifi music store would be awsome and linking your zune with your xbox so you can put the videos you buy from the xbox market place on your zune. ie. if i biught south park episodes on my xbox i should be able to sync them with ,my zune. videos in the market place on my pc would be cool too.
o and here are some ideas from a zune forum that i post on zunited.net and zunescene.com(i would check these sites out there are some good threads about firmware wishlist and stuff they want to see on the zune.)
also it seems every time i ask people on forums wat you want to see on the zune they say clock. theres always some one who says it. i think its not nessecary because most of the time you can look at your watch or cell phone but i geuss people want a clock.

Instead of designing a new feature for the website how about adding internet surfing via wi fi on the device or enabling the Zune to be an external portable hard drive instead of having to edit the registry to get it to work.  The functionality is there why not enable it?  How about support for Audio books, it’s a pain to have to rename the genre to Podcast.  I think users would rather see this type of improvement than a new feature on the website.

Let’s take a vote Zune Community would you rather see a new feature on the website or additional functionality added to the Zune?

You can feel free to vote on whether my team should do a game on The Social or additional functionality in the Zune, but I don't work on that part of Zune, so you won't get me and my development team to change paths. Different teams have different goals (and skills...I'm not a hardware person!), and my job is The Social.

Where exactly would we submitt ideas to the Zune hardware/firmware/software dev team? I really have one particular idea I'd like to put forth.

Can we add ear buds which pick up brain waves to the list?  Then we could control our Zune with just our thoughts!

re: An invitation to help me design a new feature
Something i'd really love to see would be Xbox Live Gamercard and Zune Card blended into one. For example, putting the 360 logo on there along with the reputation stars and gamerscore. This one would probably be 360 staff, but when people play their music on 360 through their Zune why doesn't it automatically show on the Zune Card what I listened to? And finally, a universal status that works with both cards. Someone listening to a song or playing a game on their 360? Have it show up just like someone's status on Xbox 360. "Playing Mass Effect", or "Getting new music in Zune Marketplace", maybe even "Zune: 'Pain' Three Days Grace". Something that shows up on both cards. I know this is hardware related, but this would be pretty nice also. Since the Zune first launched, the only way you could check for nearby Zune owners is to manually poll the area using the scan feature. This one is borrowed off of the scanner from Metriod Prime DS...how about a Zune Social Scanner?! You go to a busy place like the mall and set it to scanner, and it not only alerts you when you have someone in range with a Zune that has their scanner activated, but you can choose to send your card to them manually or possibly automatically. Then later, you can see who's cards you got and send them a message. Or even add them to your friends list. Finally, and i'll quit my rambling, someone mentioned checking their friends through Live with the Zune. Why not have a Wi-Fi detector in the Zune that alerts you when you're at a wi-fi hotspot and can connect your Zune to the internet. From there, upload the songs you recently listened to and have it added to your card, check to see who's on Xbox Live, even recieve game invites and have personalized pre-selected messages for when you're not at home. Okay, i'm getting off my soapbox now.

I'd love to see a feature that connects me with users who have similar musical tastes. Rather then comparing entire listening history, I would think that comparing -I'm not sure, maybe that last 20 plays. The similarity could be done by genre, band, or even by specific tracks.
