Log in to you Zune account. Select My Account, and then select Change Zune Tag. Enter the new Zune tag that you want to use. Confirm the new Zune tag and the purchase amount of 800 Microsoft Points.
I don't understand why it cost 800 points or $10 to change a tag. That makes no sense. I'm more likely to abandon my original account and then create a new account with the Zune Tag I want. BUT, I don't want to abandon my current account. I just want to change the tag to something that better reflects my tastes instead of the random tag I made up when creating the account and didn't understand that I wouldn't be able to change it later. C'mon. $10 bucks. Is changing tags that much of a problem that it cost $10 to do it? I feel like I'm being robbed or taken advantage of.

Its not like the zune team made this stupid idea up themselves....this is pretty common. Look at the email address, can you change it? Or how about yahoo, msn, and aim screen names, those aren't changeable either... Pretty much anywhere online where you need a screen name (photobucket, myspace, deviant art, hi5, webshots, etc---)cannot be changed..unless there are some very rare sites out there that make this possible.

When I look at it, it seems pretty clear to me - but I'm open to suggestions from you on how to improve the understanding here of what you're supposed to be doing.

It is not clear that you will never be able to change it or may be subject to a fee to do so. The information needs to be communicated to consumers more effectively. Looking at that sign-up, one would think they would pick anything now and then change it later. I do that very often when signing up for something, especially if I can't think of anything or what I want it taken. That is of course, unless it identifies it can't be changed then I will either think of something on the spot or altogether abandon the registration process until I am ready.
