yeah it would be great to have one... especially for switches between like techno, rock, and *** liek that where it actually makes a difference. IMO they should have a preset AND advanced, for lazy people and people who like to tweak the sound here and there

Dude you're late, the wars over. Zune HD has an EQ, but only the presets like the 30.

It is ridiculous that it doesn't have a custom EQ setting.  My $20 Sansa Clip has a custom 5 band EQ.  The Zune HD should have a 7 band custom EQ, and '86 the presets; most of those sound bad anyway.  AND it should have an SD expansion slot like most of the phones and other flash based media players out there, but that's probably a gripe for a different thread.  If they wanted to put a dent in Apple's share they should have included these features that are essentially standard equipment in other devices that Apple also continues to ignore.  Just having FM radio wasn't quite enough.

Ok, so I get the new Zune HDs will have an EQ, but isn't the software still lacking it or am I stupid and can't find it?

Also people keep saying "dood just get sum hi q hedfones." If the mix is any good in the song presets would just *** it up. What you need the custom EQ for is the fact that every set of speakers/headphones sounds different and have different responses for different ranges. In other words you should be using your EQ like a tuning fork for your speakers, not the type of music you listen to.
