re: PETITION FOR ZUNE EQUALIZER

I downloaded Zune to try to get past the issues I've been having with WMP and Xbox360 sharing, I'm astounded there's no EQ. I fell in love with the interface of Zune but through my ipod headphones it just doesn't sound quite right so I want to tweak it but WHAT!? No such thing... It's like McDonalds saying you can't have your burger without tomatoes. Everyone's taste is different, depending on the device I'm listening through I need the ability to adjust...Come on M$ft, you've failed me 3x today (Xbox360+WMP+Zune).

re: PETITION FOR ZUNE EQUALIZER
I just bought the Zune 120. It does not have any sound controls at all. It has no "loudness" control that I have seen on some audio equipment. It has no treble or bass controls and no equalizer (presests or custom). For the price of the machine this is extremely dissapointing. It makes me wish I bought a Ipod and done without the FM radio option. I still have a old Sandisk 2 gig player and it has a preset equalizer. I think it has better sound quality.

This petition is about an equalizer for the Zune DEVICE itself.  It sounds like you're talking about an EQ for the Zune SOFTWARE.  Go into sound properties on your computer if you need an EQ on the computer itself.  If I'm misunderstanding, and you ARE speaking of the Zune DEVICE, I agree that the newer Zunes should have had an EQ.  That's why I'm still using my first gen Zunes.  At least they have EQ presets, which is better than nothing.

I can guarantee that Sandisk 2gig player doesn't have better sound quality.

If that's what you believe then to be honest I don't think you know what sound quality is actually about.  I'll tell you this much though...an Equalizer has nothing to do with Sound Quality.

It may have everything to do with preferences, but not with actual Sound Quality.

The Wolfson DAP on the Zunes is second to none in the portable audio industry.

He could be having some issues with the networking components of WMP not playing nice with the 360.

I occasionally have similar issues with WMC and the 360 myself.

Yes, It has everything to do with preferences which is what music is all about and I know what sound quality is about. Before I recieved my engineering degree, I  worked as a mechanic on fighter planes for 21 years. I have lost some frequency ranges in the high and low spectrums in my hearing and it would really be nice to boost some of the those hard to hear frequencys so that I can hear them and the music does not sound as brassy and hollow in this machine.

While I'm sorry to hear about your hearing loss (I have some too from working as a DJ) you're still speaking of EQ functions, which is not part of Sound Quality.

It's still a matter of personal preference.  I personally would prefer an EQ as well.  The sound quality itself though on the Zune's is amazing.  The only recommendation I can really make is find another way of modifying the sound.  There are solutions both for PC's, and for headphones that are fairly reasonable in price :)

re: PETITION FOR ZUNE EQUALIZER
I just got a Sansa Clip, and to my surprise, I'd say the sound is on par with my zune 30.  Still I think my ZVM beats them both on overall SQ tho.  I really like that little Clip though, great sound, plays loud, light as a feather; would recommend it to anyone looking for something tiny that isn't an ipod shuffle.

At this point I'm betting on there not being an EQ in the ZHD, which will make me continue to hope my Z30 doesn't die.  Also, looking like there'll only be 32GB max of flash mem, at least to start, so that also leaves me w/o much of a reason to upgrade, as I'm not one to feel like I need to show off my groovy touch screen to friends.

I've a Zune120 and was very underwhelmed with the "premium" headphones (they sound empty).  However my noise reduction Sony's sound full and rich.  MS should stop hyping the premium headphones they just aren't worth it.

The V1's were pretty damned awesome...but the V2's are indeed very hollow sounding :(

I wish I could find a pair of V1's when I actually have the cash :P

I just upgraded from a Zune 30 to a 120 and really miss having a device eq. It cant' be that hard to throw it into a firmware patch. I'm fine with preset eq choices like the 30 but it'd be great to have a multi-band eq.
