I am a new Zune owner and am incredibly disappointed with this answer. "optimized the behavior for the audience that wants to keep the library and the content on the device acutally in sync". Ridiculous! Have you ever heard of the concept of thinking outside the box. The problem is by targeting a specific audience you will only be able to sell to that specific audience, and no one else!! This is why your sales have been dwarfed by iPods. Let the consumer make the decision on what they want, and give as many options as possible to allow you to maximize your audience. By opening up with various options you will attract a larger audience and sell more Zunes. I would think the end result of Microsoft is to do just that, sell more.
I have also read of several work arounds to fix this "auto sync" and delete from library issues and would like to know if this is going to be fixed with a patch to the software? The device in itself is asthetically very nice, and the functionality of the device is quite nice. But the software is not user friendly and the sync is an issue, if not for your target audience then to those who are not targeted and buy it anyway. After three days I am very upset that now, I need to look into buying an external hard drive to fit more of my music in library to stay on the Zune, or do a work around. Why should I have to do a work around after shelling out $250 on the device?
Another point is that this is not mentioned by the sales person at Circuit City (they were extremely knowledgable on the iPod), or on the box, or in the non-existent user guide that did not come with the device (this was sarcasm). Now, can you please let me know if this "delete from library delete from Zune" non-issue will be fixed in a patch or newer software version? If it will be fixed then I will keep the device. If not then I will go back and get a device that does have me in mind when they marketed their device. Last but not least, your response was not a very good one, but rather left you and the Zune Team open for much criticism. But you probably already know that based on the numerous responses I see posted on the boards.
