re: Help-frozen zune!!!!

Mine too!  woke up with it this way!  What's going on?  Even holding back & left doesn't work!  The only new thing I've added is the new Nickelback a couple of days ago.

this is insane! i also have a first generation and it is froze up at the loading screen? i bet that update we just did was made to make everyones old zune crash! i have been a big supporter of Microsoft product but i am loosing my faith. my 360 dies and now my zune and done even get me started on vista! maybe i should go with apple instead! this is real annoying. i have to do alot of filling today and now i have to do it with no music! thanks alot microsoft!!!!!!!!!1

I contacted the BBB and I suggest you all do the same. The BBB needs to know that Microsoft is selling a defective product and charging for it to be fixed..

Definitely.  Xbox 360 is just like Zune, an amazing piece of sh****y built technology.  When 85% of launch day 360's went down, Microsoft extended warranties on them for 3 years, fixed the issue, and even refunded people like me that had to pay for the repairs initially.  Only problem was that it took like 3 months to get everything in order.  3 Months of No Zune = New iPod customer so hopefully they get this right and shoot us all something (1000 Microsoft Points?) for the trouble.

This is wild,my Zune 30 gig stopped working at the load screen 12-30-08 like all the others and its at the load screen frozen, this is fishy.Is this a way to phase out all who have the 30 gig by making us download the update?what am i suppose to do now?

Just wanted to add my two cents - my Zune 30G is stuck on logo screen too.  I've never used this forum or had to use any tech support for my Zune before so I'm wondering when and how we get our answers to this problem.

Easy killer... obviously we are all up WAY early and its New Years Eve and like 3:31am at the Microsoft Headquarters.  Give them until noon to make it right.  Their quality control suffers, but they usually take good care of their customers and they know if they don't fix this Zune and the billions they invested into it are over.  Give em a chance to fix it, if they don't, file every complaint you can.

The exact thing happened to me this morning while I was at work. I just finished listening to an album, and I went to put something else on and it turned itself off. I tried to reboot, but it stopped when the bar got all the way to the right. I tried all the reset combinations and whatnot and nothing's working. I tried the computer too after it died; still nothing. I had two other friends have this happen to them today all around 3:00 AM, and I see everyone else on here was having a similar issue with the timezones. Is this some sort of cruel joke or conspiracy!? I need my Zune everyday I can't live without it. I hope Microsoft fixes this asap.

I'm getting really frustrated with the performance of the Zune this year. What the heck is going on?!?!? First the faulty upgrade and now this! I woke up at around 5:30am and saw that my Zune screen was lit so I go over to try to turn it off. I tried everything like many of you others (...reset, plug into computer, etc...) and it didn't work. I was so worried because I don't want to buy another mp3 and I can't afford one. My internet is being unreliable for some reason and that just made me panic even more. (...how am I gonna fix this thing with no internet to look up the answer to my problem!?!? LOL...) Anyway, my internet allowed me to use Zune Help and I saw this forum. I can't believe that everyone is having the same problem. (...maybe it all happened at midnight...)

The more people respond to this forum, the more pressure it puts on people at Microsoft to find the solution. (...thats my theory...) Hopefully the problem will be solved soon.

I was out fishing in stockton, ca all night long. I was listening to the radio via line input on some speakers. Then the music stopped. Had to have been midnight because the last time I checked my phone it was like 1130pm.

The term timebomb come to mind. Or maybe just a glitch in the update.   But Yes I could see conspiracy if all the 30gb's broke at the same time in software.

I got mine..I forgot. from a gamestop. But I know that was the only model at the time. A brown one. I did the battery drain and recharge.

No buttons respond.

Maybe this is the new business model. Kill the hardware every 2 years. -_-.

This sucks because even if they do offer a free fix out of warranty, I have to reload all that by hand. I delete all my music after loading to save hd space on my laptop.

I hope somebody does get some kind of action(after zune staff has enough time to respond hopefully)

This is so wierd.   Anybody know of any reason why the date would be so significant? next year isn't  a leap year is it(joke)?

WOW!  didn't expect this.  My 30gig zune is frozen too.  Used it last night before midnight and it worked fine.  tried it this morning and it is now frozen with the zune icon on screen.  I hope microsoft has a fix for this or they owe me a new one.  My zune is barely a year old.  This bites.

hello...this is amazing something is going on....I have one ...of the original 30 zunes. I went to bed last night and awoke about 2:22 central time at that time or soon after..i noticed that my screen was frozen.I had it playing in an Ihome radio as I do every night....

I tried to reset several times no luck....then I waited for the battery to go down and hoped for a miracle...but when it did I pugged it into the cradle..it sat there...built a charge...and up came the Zune screen...frozen again...

Is this the NEW RED RING OF DEATH..like my xbox? Yes The Zune Deep Freeze....born 12-31-2008...

Virus? Too many have had the ZDF tonight...no coincidence...
