re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it

I've got songs that have been removed with no explantion as to WHY.

I have the actualy CDS for most, but I'd like a damned REASON as to why they were removed when I wanted them added.

Speed improvement??

So you care to explain to me why it's taking it over FIVE HOURS to load 5k worth of mp3s onto my device? And why it takes 15-30 SECONDS to switch between pages in the program??

Speed improvement my ass. The old software was lightening fast compared to this.

I HATE that I cannot easily right click and Get Album Info or Edit Track Info.  Add those two things back in as well as Auto Playlists and the ability to delete something from your collection WITHOUT it also then deleting it from Zune and I will be happy.  Sadly the old software could do all of these things.  Feels like I downgraded.

Please Zune team, we are not happy.

This was my FAVORITE feature of the zune software >the get album info< I'm glad I'm not the only one upset its gone.. I will be switching back to an i-pod if this isnt fixed soon as i-tunes added that since microsoft had it..  I was so looking foward to this update.. Wireless syncing was a great addition but I would rather being able to downgrade back to my old software and firmware now.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it

Initial reaction is I don't like it...  Seems very much style over substance.  I'd rather see a black-and-white ascii terminal interface that was functional than all this pretty stuff without key functionality.

Can't believe auto playlists / 5-star ratings are gone.  I saw the other post that said you're working on it.  Great.  Take down the balloons and get on that.

Where's "browse by genre"?  Isn't this a basic need for a music player?

Where can I see the "Now Playing" list?

Video support is horrible.  You used to have an advantage in regards to video in that your screen size of the device was bigger (not any more).  The lack of video support in marketplace is unfortunate.  But with this release, you had an opportunity to really have a nice win with media center integration.  I was so looking forward to this!  Now that I see it, I can't believe how lame it is.  Media Center knows the television show, the episode, the original air date, and lots of other metadata about the show.  And you've managed to incorporate a hot bowl of none of it.  Nice...  I have about 1/2-TB of video on media center, you expect me to go through all that one show at a time and drag-and-drop to my device?  At least give me a heirarchial view of shows/episodes so I can find the show I want to sync (alphabetical by episode name is brilliant organization!).

Podcast support - jury still out.  I had a workaround using Doppler and star-ratings.  Star-ratings are gone, but we'll see if your native podcast support works.  I actually think this might be the one improvement over the old version.

Zune Card - so far it doesn't think I've played anything, though I listened to a lot of music today, and all of it is using the AMG tags applied from the Zune 1.x software.  I thought this might be cool - though would really like to see integration with last.fm or iLike.

How about updating my Windows messenger to show what I'm listening to the way WMP does?

Okay, so I'm sorry I'm so negative.  Here's a positive one for you.  Looking at the music on the device seems much faster.

I think its alright, pretty nice, kinda confusing. Haven't yet gotten into it deeply though because I am having troubles installing it. I WISH I COULD INSTALL IT!!! Otherwise using it on other pc's in the house its pretty neat.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it

For some reason, my zune software has gone nuts.  My songs are listed under the wrong album name, the album art is with the wrong album, and for some stupid reason, microsoft saw fit to remove any ability to look up the album and get correct track information, artist info, and album art.  You can manually change the album art (if you have it) and type in the album name, but you can not change the artist associated with it.  The old way was much better, and the new way is basically crap.  Why couldn't we have left things the way they were.  I've been waiting for months for the new software update, and am sorely disappointed with it.  If it weren't for the $200 purchase price, I'd just give my zune to my seven year old daughter and let her go to town, and buy a non-proprietary player that does all the same stuff, but better.

Is there any way to rollback to the classic zune software?  I liked it a lot better.

There are obviosuly numerous people who don't like the new software, if you are one of them post in here, hopefully enough people will complain and they will change it.  IT IS WAY TOO COMPLICATED!!!!!!

I am just going to say...I have had NO problems with the new software...but, honestly, this is ridiculous. Microsoft tried to make it simpler...And it is NOT complicated at all! If you cannot figure this out, why do you even own a PC? It is not rocket science! Honestly, you people complain too much. Microsoft is making the best MP3 Player out there, yes, better than the iPod, with some of the nicest software, and they have an awesome marketing campaign. I see no reason to whine.

Note- To those of you who have had REAL problems, sorry, go ahead, you deserve to complain. The rest of you, who have no good reason to hate it, umm...not so much.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it

Lousy move.  My music playlists are on the device, but not on the software.  They disappeared.  Instructions say to "drag" items to software icon.  Does not work.

Generes gone... miss that.

Album art messed up... worked fine before.

Duplicate songs now device music folder... not on zune software.

Pictures... carefully hand picked, are all still on the device.  Gone from the Zune software.  Cannot find way to move pictures from device to Zune.

Videos are on both software and device... and work well.  That's the only item not screwed up.

Sad.

1. draggin an album into another to update/organize music.

2. Updating album info through info received thru market place. (and no I don't want to turn on automatic updaing library info)

3. still going over other differences.

Yeah, the new software is crapola. I love how my music collection got mangled by th new software never knew BoB Marley and Blink-182 did an album together!

As much as thats pissing me off, the total lack of ability to edit metadata is just plain stupid. I use a program called dsharpie to edit the metadata for my videos so they will be grouped into "TV Shows" or "Movies". While that still works, the Tv shows are no longer grouped into folders (all episode of Cowboy Beebop together, all episodes of Heroes together, etc) they are now listed as individual files by episode name.

For me, this firmware/software is a huge step backwards. Why don't they just make the thing work with WMP11 and can it a day?!

Who or what did what to who? That's right, he did.

I have to say that they had a good thing going with the older software. It was easy to use and straight forward go and figure MS's Zune team goes and screws it all up by to make it fancy and all that. Heck all I want to do is sort by album but it will not even let me do that. I just hope they get a fix out their fast.

I don't hate the new version.  It just seems like the conversion between the old version and the new version is a little buggy.
