re: Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!

I apologize in advance if I am about to violate any rules or points of order.

I have dialup(no broadband access in my area).  So this 80 MB download is a pain.  Is there anyway to order a CD?

Thanks in advance,

-chuck

The download is only 33.8 MB.   At 56 Kbps, this will take 80 minutes.   Surely you will survive.

re: Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!
The fact that you've gone from a pretty good media player with a lot of good features to a shitty buggy media player with a lot less features is fucking ridiculous. And the fact that we are celebrating when some of the bugs that the idiots in charge of zune ADDED by releasing a shitty update are fixed is absolutely absurd. As far as I'm concerned you've taken a pretty decent player and turned it into an absolute piece of ***. updates are supposed to make improvements, not make things worse. If you guys would just communicate a little bit with everyone and at least let us know whether you were making an effort to improve things and have an estimated time for an update it would restore a lot of faith but you refuse to do so.

Why the hell is it that when i click on 50 cent it lists songs by chingy, snoop dogg and jim jones?

I don't understand why companies and people continually try to reinvent the wheel when it works perfectly. just let us downgrade to 1.4 and we'll buy an ipod next time. The Zune development team has time and time again proved themselves incompetent.

Uninstall 2.1 / Install 2.3 better than "upgrading"?
After having stability problems with 2.3, I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled.  2.3 is now rock solid and smooth.  If anyone else runs into problems, try the same thing.

I'd like to report that this update DOES NOT fix the Illustrator CS3 bug.  (i.e., if Zune is running or has run on your system Illustrator CS3 will not save files.)

Any idea when this massive showstopper for anybody that uses CS3 will be fixed? There have been a couple threads on the forum about this, but there's been no acknowledgement or fix ETA from MS.

No need for a big update, 2.3.1 would be fine.

If you already have an account, all you need is the software.

Besides, the "full experience" is not what it's cracked up to be.

re: Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!
After playing with the new software for a little bit, I've discovered that my three main problems have been resolved:

I no longer have to resubscribe to podcasts
The software doesn't add change tags to "Unknown Artist" when there's no album tag
And it doesn't change artist tags when the album artist tag is different

So, thanks everybody.

Well, I will hold my excitement for the next 5 days without this issue.  First thing I had to do when I loaded the new version was resubscribe to all my podcasts.  I know that is left over from the old bug, but I say time will tell.

The podcasting was my own personal top bug to fix.

My software still gives me this:

I can use the software while error is up, but I really don't want to in fear that it may mess up my Zune somehow.

Weezy, it looks to me like you need to update/patch your .Net 2.0 Framework from that erorr.

Visit Windows Update, select "Custom", and then check the "Software, optional" updates, and select anything dealing with the .Net 2.0 Framework.

re: Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!

Wow...I have been using the podcast feature since it came out.  To my knowledge, it was never a problem...heck, I did not even know about this one.  I am glad it has been fixed, though.

Performance seems to be GREATLY improved.  Still playing around with it, but it looks great so far.  Admittedly, I have not had the problems that most seem to have had, but there have been a few nits, here and there, that seem to have been addressed.

Now, can something be done to speed to transcoding of video for my older Zune 30?

Thanks!
