I think for now I'm just going to go back to 1.4 because I like to have full control over the device and it just doesn't work with my style of organization. Is there a way to go back to 1.4? I just got a Zune for the first time a few days ago, and the software has been BEYOND frustrating. From what I'm reading, the old software was a lot better. I would love to just use that. I've tried doing just what you are suggesting. The old software will not work with the new marketplace. It's OK if you never want to buy music. I was begging a guy on the phone the other day to let me go back. "I'm sorry but we cannot and do not offer downgrades on our software". I said that I don't consider it a downgrade at all, since the old software was great and worked perfectly everytime, and the new software hasn't done anything right after multiple tries. "I'm sorry you feel that way, but it is better" was the reply I got. Lucky it was phone, that is deserving of a slap. I could care less about the marketplace, never used it and probably never will.

SORRY, I SCREWED UP ON THE LAST POST BUT I AGREE.
A LOT OF THE PEOPLE I HAVE SPOKEN WITH ON ZUNE CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW HALF THE THINGS THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I'VE HAD TO CALL ZCS ABOUT 9 TIMES WITH PROBLEMS. EACH TIME, SOMEONE HAS TOLD ME TO DO SOMETHING TO "SOLVE THE PROBLEM" WHEN IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM. I KNOW A LOT ABOUT COMPUTERS AND OBVIOUSLY THEY DON'T [ AND THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ZUNE EITHER ! ] I TOO HAVE WANTED TO SLAP OR CHOKE THE CRAP OUT OF THOSE PEOPLE FOR GIVING ME USELESS INFORMATION, OR WASTING MY TIME DOING THINGS THAT DID NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO BEING CLOSE TO HELPING TO GET NEAR THE SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD. THEY NEED TO HIRE SOME PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
AND ITS TOTALLY UNFAIR. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO "DOWNGRADE" BECAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THE "UPGRADE". HIGHLY REDICULOUS. I HAVE HAD MY ZUNE FOR A YEAR NOW AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM TILL NOW...
BWGATH wrote:Then to that I would say format the Zune and use the install CD that came with your Zune which has the old software and reinstall it to your computer. If you don't use the marketplace you should be OK.
YOU CAN'T DO THAT. IT AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOADS AND INSTALLS THE UPDATES.
I HAVE TRIED IT MANY TIMES.

It figures, sorry my mistake then.
My Podcast "The New Hampshire After Hours Show" http://www.nhafterhours.com
I hate beating a dead horse but this one needs to be beaten to an unrecognizable pulp!!!!! This is a HUGE PITA!!!!!!!!!! I want to sync what I want and delete what i want when I want and WHERE I want, whether it is on the Zune or the PC or both! I am like a lot of people on here, I don't have the space on my PC to keep a Smithsonian's amount of information just so that I can have it on my Zune. I usually get rid of it on my PC once it is on the Zune. If I wanna listen to something when I am on the PC I plug in the Zune and use it as my player, fancy that!!!!!
So....MS.......we know you are listening (because you like to be 'Big Brother') fix this problem. It seems to me that the masses are speaking and have a bigger voice then your so called 'target audience'.
This is incredibly asinine. I bought a Zune to replace my 40GB player because of the bigger storage space. I do NOT have 80 GB of hard drive space to mirror my Zune content, nor should I have to. I do NOT listen to music on my computer, I listen to it in my car and elsewhere.
With people having digital cameras, digital camcorders, video capture devices, etc. on their computers, it's typical MS shortsightedness to think that people are going to want to devote a large chunk of their hard drive to mirroring the same content as their zune. This fix should be done and done quickly. I shouldn't have to spend another 100 dollars so I can use my zune to its fullest cacpacity.
dragcrunks wrote:I have successfully unintentionally deleted two movies that took me roughly three and a half hours total to encode. I added them to my Zune 30, and played them to check everything out and to see if audio was in sync.... all was well. I then proceeded to delete the files to preserve memory on my laptop, as the movies took up roughly 700mb each. I then went to sync some podcasts, and lo and behold, my movies were deleted from my Zune. It is really a disservice to the loyal Zune userbase when the software deems itself worthy of deleting items off your Zune when you have specided TO LET ME SYNC MY OWN FILES. Now, I love my Zune, but this is one giant frustration that needs to be resolved.
