Hey can someone help me. Question, what happens when your listeing to a song and try to play another song but everything turns black. Does that mean my zune just died on me or some other reason.(beacuse my zune was fully charged.) Email me at brandenmthompson@yahoo.com Please......>,<

is your zune doing this to just THIS song in particular or to all songs? Cause I was gonna say if it is just this one song, u might wanna delete it and put it back on there but if it is any song you choose to forward to then I would suggest rebooting your zune or even reformatting if worst comes to worst.

I love Michael Jackson's music. So what??? :P

re: How to Reboot, Reformat, and Restore your Zune device

Thank you very much for this info but I've not been successful at doing it. I have a 30GB V1 Zune that's worked flawlessly. I've installed the new firmware and all has been perfect. I just bought a new 120GB so no longer need the 30GB. I want to completely reinitialize the unit so it's in "like new" condition and can be sold. So, if I'm correct, this is what I'm suppossed to do for this:

1) Reboot: Press and hold Back + Up

2) Wait: Screen will go black

3) Initialize Disk: Press and hold Back + Left + OK

I've done this process over 2 dozen times. Step 1 seems to work perfectly as step 2 occurs every time. But when I then hold down the buttons for step 3 the unit seems to ignore my finger's plea and boots up normally. I have kept holding the buttons down for a long while to see what happens and watched the unit reboot over and over and over until I let my fingers off, but no change occurs to the device.

Oh, I've also tried pressing and holding Back + OK + Play/Pause, just in case the firmware upgrade changed things to work like it was a V2. Unfortunately that didn't seem to work either. Any help on this?

re: Device Commands - How to Reboot, Reformat, and Restore your Zune device
My Zune plays fine for the most part EXCEPT that the scroll timer or whatever stays at 0:00 for the whole song and some songs slow down(they play fluently, but like slowed down on a record player)or speed up and the vocals sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks. it's been like this since the 3.0 update, and after each software update I've had a problem with just the software or the Zune, now its both. Any help here? Also, I hate the little auto help, and you don't talk to a real person, Is there someone I can actually talk to?

Well wouldn't you know it, right after posting my problem I was showing a co-worker the trouble I was having the last couple of days trying to initialize the unit. I say, "See, I do it just like THIS and nothing..." while watching it initialize. Problem solved. :)

Thank you so much.  That's exactly what was wrong with my player.  I had to go and erase everything from it.  Thank you so damn much.

re: How to Reboot, Reformat, and Restore your Zune device
I have an 8 gig zune, and up until the 3.0 update it worked fine.
However, when I hit the back button, it isn't functioning properly. If I am in the Pictures or Videos (I have none loaded on my zune) I can use the back button to return to the main menue. If I am playing music, I can pull up the menue and look at all albums, genres and such but I cannot get out of the music Menue. Instead when I hit the back button it scrolls to the left.
More over, anytime I hit the back button during playback the song restarts.
Also there seems to be alot of lag and much more frequent freezing.

I've tried to do the steps listed on the first post (reformat and such) but have had no luck.
I did manage to take all of my content off of it, but that hasn't helped because when I'm in the music menue it still scrolls rather than going back.

How can I fix this? I am becoming very frustrated because I have seen people with similar problems on the forums yet I have not come across an answer that has worked for me. Perhaps I am missing something small, but its driving me crazy.

Anything helps...

re: How to Reboot, Reformat, and Restore your Zune device
My 80 GB Zune was working just fine until the new update and listening to the technicians on the 800 number did not help at all. I spent almost 8 hours on the phone with them and nothing was accomplished. Yes 8 hours!!!! It's been about 3 weeks that I haven't had my Zune and I'm going crazy. Not to mention that songs and videos that I downloaded from marketplace no longer work!!! I don't know what to do or when will the problem be fixed. I just want my Zune back!!!!!

U got my Zune working again thanks the reboot helped me get it back on, it just turned off while listening and wouldn't turn on or do anything. Full battery too. I just installed the new firmware today for v.3 so perhaps that's the issue somewhere. Thanks again¡¡

Question: Has anyone experienced their playcounts getting messed up by this? I'm looking at doing this as a last ditch attempt at getting my zunecard to update again (hasn't properly since mid-September), but don't want to lose any existing playcounts.
