re: The Empty Battery
You know, now I'm second guesssing myself on the display not shutting off issue. I usually dont have to use the car charger that often because my battery has always lasted between syncs. So now I dont really remember if that was the case or not so I'll drop it for now. Sorry to get off-topic.

re: The Empty Battery

Guys,

I've had the same problem for the past couple of days, but I have a solution!!!! Step 1 Go outside. Step 2 put your zune on the ground. Step 3 DESTROY Devil [6]!!!! (i.e. baseball bat, sledge hammer, car, poodle urine, etc...). Step 4 Go to a store and buy a superior digital audio player (i.e. Ipod, Zen, or my personal favorite a PSP slim and light with an 8GB memory stick) I know this will help.

re: The Empty Battery

Same issue here.  I have the Halo 3 special edition Zune.  I never had any problems before the software update.  It would hold a charge for more than a week (sometimes 2 weeks) with the little time a day I spend listening to it.  Then I started getting the empty battery indicator, and my Zune would not power on, but instead show a large battery icon with the "!" in the middle.  Then I'd plug it in to my computer to charge it back up.  One time the battery indicator showed it completely empty and charging, then 2 minutes later the battery indicator was full.  So I took it off and was listening to my device for about 30 minutes with no problems.  I shut it off to make a phone call and went back to it 20 minutes later.  Same problem, it would not power on and showed a "!" in a large battery icon, instead of powering on.  I plugged it in again to charge it up and it showed the battery completely empty!!!  Now within about an hour it was empty, then completely full and running fine, then completly empty and not working again.  Now I can't get it to function at all unless it's getting power from my Xbox 360 (via the usb cable) or my computer.  I'm very disappointed and 'ticked off about this FORCED software upgrade that has ruined my otherwise pleasurable music device.  What also has me really upset is the fact that all the preloaded Halo 3 stuff on my Zune has vanished as well, as soon as it upgraded the software.  I spent $50 more to get a special edition Zune loaded with exclusive Halo 3 content and now without my consent it has all been deleted?  Is that even legal?  How can you remove or overwrite content on my device without my consent or approval?  or even my acknowlegement that I know this may happen by upgrading, and being given the option not to upgrade.

I called and complained about this issue, and spoke with a women who barely spoke understandable english, and all she would say is "I'm sorry for that sir" which she repeated several times, but had no resolution to the problem.  I wasn't about to verbally abuse a woman who was not responsible for the problem, and they refused to transfer me to J Allard.  Not that he would care at all either.

J Allard needs to get speak out and admit to this problem and address this issue to the public soonest.

I've already had to return my Xbox 360 twice for some manufacturing flaw (and received refurbed units to replace them), and now I have to return my Zune as well?

I don't want to drink the iPod Kool-Aid, but I feel like microsoft sure is pushing me to do so.

I also am having the same issue...One minute the battery says its dead, then I plug it in and within 5 minutes it shows fully charged!  I dont think its the battery, its the firmware.

This update really bites...

When working correctly, the zune is MUCH better than the iPod. The reason there are all these problems is the software, the updated software is terrible, and there are problems with the new firmware too. If Microsoft can get their act together and fix these issues, then the zune would be a better choice, if this goes on for a while, it's a toss up.

re: The Empty Battery
I've been having this problem ever since the update. I've had my zune for about a year and never had any problems whatsoever until this ridiculous update. It messed my library up and I'm having to rebuild it and now this. Why isn't any of the mods or support staff speaking out about this issue yet? I can't even sync my newly purchased music without it turning off.

Crap, my battery is now completely dead for the second time. This is totally random and unexpected, why are our Zunes doing this?! Please Zune Team FIX THIS!

Yes, I work at Best Buy. Yes, I sell more Zunes than iPods.

The Solution  as stupid as it may seem if you unplung your headphones you barrery will be fine in the morning.

When you plug in the headphones zune go on, so something is in the jack that energizes the system.

I have a better solution!!!!! Destroy your zune and buy something better!!!! It worked for me. By the way Xperson 56, Your an idiot! You can press a button to turn on the zune that dosent necesarilly mean that button powers the zune. You can also turn on the zune without the headphones plugged in. GTFO!!! Dont by a Zune, its junk!
