re: Features Needed For Next Zune Update...

On the Zune device itself:

  • Ability to 'go to artist' as well as 'go to album' when playing a song
  • An option to 'shuffle this artist' and 'shuffle this album' in addition to 'play all'
  • Ability to delete tracks from the quick-list
  • Respect orientation tag in photos, and allow in-device rotation (with scaling), so I can view 320x240 images sideways as normal, and 240x320 images 'vertically' without losing resolution, as well as viewing them side-ways, scaled down

In the Zune Software on the PC:

  • Paste Album Art
  • Update Album Info (gets info from internet, lets you edit any and all tags)
  • Allow specifying that when syncing music, it should be transcoded to a new (lower) bitrate
  • Smart Playlists
  • Option for 5-star system instead of heart system
  • And of course, plain-old bug fixes for all the problems other people seem to be having (thankfully, I'm doing okay, knock on wood)

Both:

  • Ability to tag, categorize, and organize videos into folders

A way to delete from the the zune itself.
a way to add/remove from the Zune without having to use the software.
batch meta editing.
and a way to bookmark audiobooks and podcasts so I can resume where they left off.
other than that what I want most is STABLE/usable software. mine always crashes and it doesn't get anything done before it does.

Support for allowing car audio decks to read music from the device using the usb cable so that people that have a usb connection on their car audio deck can listen to music from the zune without having to buy any other "accessories" like the crappy zune fm transmitter.

The usb port in my car deck can currently charge the zune but indicates that the device has no support.

Thanks

May I suggest updating the first post with a (one-line) summary of all the good suggestions generated in this thread with a reference to corresponding post for looking up details on the suggestions?

Umm, maybe you should contact your "car audio deck" manufacturer. They would be the ones to implement support for the Zune in their product.

As for things I would like updated:

Bring back everything you removed!!!! 5 star, Auto playlists, flagging, transcoding of files (changing bit rate so more items can be put on zune) and so on.......

At least an option for a 5 star rating system! I don't like to be in love-hate relationships with my music Stick out tongue [:P]

Interestingly enough i find the rating system inconsequential in face of the other problems and I think they did that because they felt it was more user friendly to the "social" aspect of things........

In the end it almost seems like this over "social" bs buzzcrap has caused more problems. After all when do you even pass by another person with a Zune?
