The Twilight Zune, Part V (update): Website status finally updated, but the NIGHTMARE continues nonetheless.
Tuesday 1/29/08, ~noon. Today is Business Day 19, calendar day 28 since the Zune was delivered to the repair facility in McAllen, TX. This ordeal began on December 16, 2007, first phone call to Zune on Dec 19, 2007. In the Zune return box, as requested by the Zune folks, I provided a "Duplicate" copy of the Best Buy receipt (the original Best Buy receipt faded to nothing, Best Buy printed the duplicate for me on 12/20/07). That receipt shows the purchase of this player as April 14, 2007.
The status information on the website has finally been updated to show, "Device Received at Service Center", but still shows as "Out of Warranty".
