Hopefully, what a pain. so much lost files I have to put back on the computer again.
RDanka, external USB drives are big and relatively cheap. Buy one, and move your music collection over to it. You'll have plenty of space to grow.

You’re right, it seems the everyone has there own "workaround" since the inability to simply turn off auto sync isn't there. Although 80 gig USBs do cost a pretty penny. None of these workaround should be necessary. I've already got 500 cds as a backup method for my music.
What are people doing who want to use multiple computers? I have a laptop that I use when traveling and another desktop at work. I'm petrified to connect my Zune to either of these. I keep hearing people mentioning the “tell the software to forget the Zune and then sign in as a guest” option, but I cannot for the life of me find a guest option when I reconnect my Zune after disassociating it from the software.
Please, Microsoft, fix this problem. All I want is the option to stop the thing form auto syncing.

Let's say I have 200GB of music on my computer, what will happen on christmas day when I try to sync just some of that collection that is in the Zune software, and not all of it.

you will have to put the music that you want to go to your zune into a folder(s) seperate from the rest of your music collection and tell your zune to monitor that folder(s).

she will be able to use the zune with no problems. i don't know why you think you have to have 80GB of disk space on your computer before you can use the zune.
the zune 2 software certainly has some problems, but nearly as bad as you think they are.

This still does not fix the sync groups problem. Where the software doesnt recognize songs already on the device and sync even if u choose manual sync. You will end up wih 10 copies of the same song.

I think he means if she accumualtes too much music on her laptop and wants to remove she cant because as soon as she connects her zune itll be removed from there also.

I HAVE EVERYTHING SET TO "LET ME CHOOSE"I DRAG AND DROP THE CONTENT THAT I WANT, BUT IT STILL CONTINUES TO SYNC EVERYTHING I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION.
WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THAT ? IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND IAM DEFINATELY NOT LIKING THIS NEW SOFTWARE. ZUNE WAS TOO BUSY WITH UPDATING AND UPGRADING, THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS NEW VERSION.
