re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
Try removing the video from your collection, and then running the sync process. Hopefully the software will abort the process when it realizes the file is no longer in your collection.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here

OK folks, here is the update.  Yes, re-encoding solved the problem for some problematic songs.  However, they are shown as Unknown Album, and Unknown Artist, since I converted them to WAV first.  I encoded them to AAC later.  So, if I edit the tag information, will it sync multiple copies again?

On the other hand, since I added new songs to my library, the software starting to resync those over and over again.Angry [:@]  It looks like everytime I add a couple of songs, it will repeat this mistake.  They have fine tags, I edited them in the mp3tag software using UTF-ISO prior to adding them to the library! I am really hoping that the December update will address this issue.  This is really getting annoying and renders the player pretty much unusable.  What the heck were they "syncing" about prior to releasing this software which seems to be full of bugs!

There is a playlist problem.  I do not know if it's related to syncing, so I just post here.  Since there are some differences between the playlists on the software and those on the device (in terms of number of songs and arrangement of those), I wanted to delete one of those playlists on the software and then recreate.  However, after I delete the playlist, it does not let me create with the same name because it says it already exists.  But, it's not showing up there.  I went to the Zune folder under My Music, the playlist I wanted to recreate is still there even though I deleted in the software which causes to give the warning message that it exists.  There seems to be a lack of communication between the software and the playlists folder under Zune folder.  Also, there are playlists in this folder that do not show up under the software.  Prior to installation, I deleted all the previous Zune folder under My Music.  Do you know what causes this and how I solve this problem?  I know God and hopefully Zune team does =).

That's what we wanted ;-)....of course you have to re-tag those files.

In theory, No! But you should try and see...

It starts to resyng the new files only or the re-encoded ones too?

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here

When I either "automatically" search my media collection or manually add certain 'albums' to the Zune media player by dragging the folders to the music collection not all of the tracks appear. Oddly, the Zune media player tells me that it found all of the tracks, then tells me it has updated the media and correctly identifies the track count (e.g., Media updated, 72 items found) though only 71 items are displayed in the track listing. I can identify the missing tracks. When I manually add the missing track it appears in the collection but causes another track to disappear. (It seems to replace another track.) When I add the track that disappeared, the track that was originally missing again goes missing.

The source media files are all uniquely named. The tag information is correct when checked in WMF or by checking file properties from WinExplorer.

I'm at a loss. Any suggestions for how to get 100% of the tracks that I want to listen to onto my Zune 30?

Have you already tried to remove tag from those files with mp3tag?

I hate this.  I have the song "Why Don't We Do It In the Road" by the Beatles on my Zune 8 times.

It's really annoying when it comes to the already mediocre shuffle.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here

Have you fixed all the tags via Mp3Tag, and renamed your hidden ZuneStore.sdf file, and manually deleted all the copies off of the zune, and then tried resyncing?

I sure hope the next Zune software update fixes all these issues.  It seems like half the posts on this forum are about the same few issues, over and over again.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
I have an issue with my pictures not syncing at all. I tried scrubbing the metadata from them and it didn't work after I did that. I've tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling it and still came up with the same problem. When it skips them on the sync it gives me the cheesy general error code that nobody knows what it means but it won't work and zune doesn't have a reason for it not to work. Anybody know how to fix this? I really like my zune for sound quality and the video but this picture issue has to be put to rest. I've had this zune for about a month too. I got a brownie off newegg for like 90 bucks. Good deal...wish the software wasn't bugging out on me.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
In the settings menu where the folder associations are located, have you tried to restore files previously deleted from your collection? If thats not the issue, and you're getting sync issues, I have 3 jpgs that have failed to sync with two Zunes on two different computers. Same general error when they were skipped on the sync. If the latter is teh case, I don't know what it is, the software isn't too clear on some of its errors.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
I'm bumping this becasue I've answered 4 or 5 threads in which I've pointed them all back to this thread.
Want to know:
  • Why everything on your Zune has to be on your computer?
  • How to get around the above restriction?
  • Why multiple copies of the same song on your device?
  • If you're not the only one with playlist issues?
All that and more (Surprise [:O]) could be yours!! Read the first post and and post what you're done or if you have a similar issue here. There's a lot of good work in this thread and it would be a shame to see it burried.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
I've updated the first post, by adding more links to similar threads that I have come across. Also, I have redone the tagging recommendations. I included the advice to NOT use ID3v2.4.

If I'm missing something or you cannot find your issue, make a post about it in this thread so I can update the first post.

re: Post Your Sync Issues Here
Just pimping a thread with tons of useful information...

In other news, even though my songs are still read only, I have three files that have started to resync again, even though software and device, from the software, counts are in check. On the device, when I go to settings>about>storage it's a different story.
