re: Zune 80 availability = Zero

Whatever idiot was in charge of shipping them out seriously screwed up this launch...

I went to like 6 different stores, including Circuit City and Best Buy - none had a single Zune80.

Way to mess this one up!

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero

Out in Omaha, I went to: Best Buy, Target, Nebraska Furniture Mart, Sears, Wal-Mart, and called Toys 'R' Us and GameStop.  None had the 80 GB Zune (several of the sales associates were sad, because they wanted one, too).

But, the hilarious part was when I called the GameStop, we had the following conversation:

Me: "Do you carry the 80 gigabyte Zune?"
Assoc: "No."
Me: "Do you know anywhere that does?"
Assoc: "Have you tried the Apple store?"

Yeah, we all got a good laugh out of that one.

I called the support line as well, and *sigh* they said it shows up as "on the market". So something is very wrong here.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I'm certainly glad I started this topic.  It's unfortunate to know that everyone is having the same problem I was...or I'm having the same problem you are.  If they failed to ship properly then reason tells me they will be in stores within the next few days.  I suppose the best way to know if any store near you is getting them in is to call (duh, right?).  Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy is going to get a little annoyed by my persistence in this matter.

I've sent a message to Engadget to see what they can cook up.  They're pretty good about getting answers.  Whether or not they choose to act on this is unknown to me.  Help out by sending a News Tip to them with a link to this thread. There's power in numbers and we want answers.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
Well, I ordered my 80 on October 3rd (Day after launch announcement) through Amazon and they haven't shipped any so far. Hopefully they have SOME stock and I'm able to get it soon. REALLY don't want to have to wait until December 10th. Might have to reconsider my purchase. :-\

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I've been trying to get one here in Canada, but I can't even access the zuneoriginals.net website from a Canadian IP lol.  I'll have to get an American friend to order it for me.  Get on the ball and release the thing outside of the USA, for crying out loud! I don't give a crap if I can't access the Zune marketplace, but I'm sick to death of dealing with iTunes and want to dump my iPod forever.  The 30 GB Zune I have already was a nice start, but the 80 GB would put the iPod out to pasture for good.

I thought about doing that myself. Good job, hopefully they will hammer out this crap and put out some pressure.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
It's weird that nobody was able to find them. I live in San Luis Obispo, CA(a pretty small town, except for the college) and managed to get one a circuit city. Best Buy and Costco didn't have them(Costco didn't have any zunes at all) but then I went to circuit city and they had em. Maybe you need to try more places? Or maybe for some reason other towns just didn't get em today. (BTW: Zune 80 is very worth the wait.)
