Zune 30 freezing issue - [Update and Resolution]

If it is a problem with the real time clock they are going to have some issues.  They could solve it by not setting the clock but that would really screw up the DRM:)  It will be interesting to see what the problem really is and how to address it.

I sure hope nobody on the Zune team had plans for New Years Eve...

i'm too scared to turn on my zune 80...I know its not supposed to be those, but i heard it someone said theirs did it too....so I'll wait. haha.

Feel free to tell your friend that any Best Buy Geek Squad agent will tell you that they see far more iPods coming in for being frozen up then they do Zunes.

When I worked there (when the zune came out until over a year ago) I fixed countless iPods and maybe a handful (5-10) Zunes.

Today would be the exception, of course. :D

I turned my zune one this morning and it started with the loading screen and it is still there. I miss my zune 30 brown. Nothing I do can help it. The battery is gone to have to drain, I suppose. Why, Why, Why. I will manage to go on with my life. However, the stigma that Microsoft will gain from this event is embarrassing. I will still support by my loyalty has been challenged. First, Microsoft does not have a mobile phone to compete with the iPhone. I have a WM Phone 6.1. However, seriously and just does not compete with the iPhone UI. Now, functionality wise its right there. However, I want a superior touch screen designed by Microsoft. I was liking the enhancements for my Zune. Were about 1 more generation away from a superior product. I was holding onto my zune 30 for the touch Zune. Come on. You are better than this.

I can fully get behind the 120 gig idea...

hey yea...i have an idea...if they can't fix em lets exchange em for the zune 80 models...lol...i wish...

so just trying to figure this all out, it is just the 30s and possibly only the ones with the newest software that are frozen? ... great .... and since 30s were phased out over a year ago pretty much all of us are out of warranty, so i doubt Microsoft will play your out of luck card that way, i mean that would be a class action right there, it's really just a matter of how long it will take it be fixed, i hope soon cause i have 5 30s that need to be working in two weeks for a family vacation .... (that would just be cruel and unusual punishment)
