At this point, Microsoft would be crazy to tell you that they're going to charge you to fix your Zune because you're not under the warranty anymore. This is happening to EVERYONE'S Zune 30, and if they have the nerve to try and charge me, I'm switching to an iPod. I got my Zune on Christmas of 2006, so my warranty has been done for two years now. After all that has happened, warranty SHOULD NOT be a factor in getting the Zunes repaired.

I just turned my Zune on and it has frozen with the Zune Logo and the status bar fully extended at the bottom of the screen. The rebooting / restarting procedures have not worked. Is there anything that can be done? At this moment I have been holding for Zune technical support for over 25 minutes and continue to hold…

My 30gb Zune has also stop working. It happened about 2 a.m.. Being that I was charging it when it frozen it is going to be while before it does dead. I hope that they don`t tell us tough luck, because most people that have 30 gb zunes are not covered by warrenty anymore.

Don't bother with support. Zune dev's are working on fixing it, all you can do is wait and stay tuned to the forums/zune.net.

Mine and my mothers Zune failed  Firm ware 3.0

My Buddy has 2.0 works fine right now....

 

Not sure what to make of that

At this point 32 minutes into holding for Zune technical support I don’t want to hang up because I want to see how long it takes for a human to answer.

I hung it out until I got a live human on MS phone support. They said they know about it and are working on it, nothing they can do right now. Latest info will be posted to zune.net. Indicated a possible issue with the 3.1 firmware and Zune 30s. Ya think?

Well I can add my Zune to the list of frozen zunes as well.  It is also happened to my wifes zune which we had never updated, she liked the first version of the software better.  This is crazy, why are all the zunes breaking and freezing at the same time?  I understand if it was an update issue but wth is up with my wifes then since she had never updated hers!  Not an update issue...must be something in the initial software.  Dunno but I hope they can fix it and FAST!  I love this baby and so does my wife!

You have to think about how many others are also calling Zune's support line about this issue, you might be waiting some time. I read a few people had to wait over an hour FYI.

Really no need to call support unless you really dig the hold music. :) We are fully aware of this and are working to get a resolution asap. I know it sucks guys, I feel your pain, but just hang tight.

I'll post here as soon as I have any more info from the team.
