A bit early to start asking for freebies, isn't it?  I mean come on, it's only 7:30 in the morning in Redmond.  The Zune team is just now waking up.  It will be a few hours, at least, before anybody has a handle on this bug.  It could be a day or two.  But free Zune Passes?  I think that's extreme at the moment.

Hell, they have gone out of their way to keep really old and obsolete Zune 30s running with the latest functionality for the past two years.  I'm happy about that.  They've taken care of us.  They'll deal with this too.

It's an inconvenience.  Nothing more.

IMO... two years does not equal a "really old and obsolete" device... especially when we're talking about something as simple as a MP3 player...

MS definately owes us something period.

I was on my way to buy a new Zune after work when I decided to see if I could find something online about the issue my Zune 30 was having and found all the discussions. I would have been REALLY upset had I bought something else and then this one started working again tomorrow.

But we're talking about a freaking MP3 player... and those phones still work, those PCs still work.  You can't really compare a MP3 player to a computer.  It shouldn't be a requirement to spend 300 bucks every damn year to keep a product running.  That's part of buying something of quality... you expect it to last.

you can compare a MP3 player to a computer........the iPod Touch & the Zune are BOTH more powerful than PCs were 10-15 years ago....have bigger HDDs too.....hell I seen people slightly mod Zunes to use Keyboards, add linux and with the built-in wifi get online....but yea I paid $250 for my Zune and truthfully I'm surprised its made it this long.....I just hope it hold out until its a Zune with a HDD bigger than 250GBs(at the current rate that should be 2010)......I have a LOT of music and vids......
