Thanks for the link. Will be doing this today.
Not because I hate the new software or don't want to learn to use it correctly. But because the software won't work on my computer. Yes, people are going to be pissed because they spent their hard earn money on something and can't even bring the program up because it comes up fuzzy or freezes when you have a lot of music. Plus, their marketplace isn't the only place where people can purchase music. So that really isn't the upside of this device. I wish the new software would work like it should. But it doesn't. People should understand everyone is not going to have the same positive results as they did. Personally, reading the boards, people are having a sleuth of problems, and obviously, you cannot blame that on their intellect. There must be issues with the software if so many of us are having issues with it. Let's hope Microsoft Zune Team is actually reading our problems, concerns and results, and hope to do something about it, very soon.

I'm totally thrilled! I'm back to the "original" version and love it. I'll be able to convert my MP3s back down to 128 bit (from 192 in the library) and use my auto playlist (play count less than 1, randomize list). I don't give a flip about the marketplace (old fashioned - I like CDs) or fancy GUIs on the Zune or desktop. It will do what I want!!I'll just keep checking the forums for any upgrades that may bring the newer version to my liking. Once that happens I'll upgrade. Until then? Fogetaboutit!!
Oh, and I did change the CAB file as suggested, and it worked "Mahvalous"!!

So I have the zune connected and when I run The old zune software the Zune Name pops up and I go to the next step which is Sycn Options and When I Click Next I get a Error that says "It is not possible to change sync settings at this time. Try Again Later". Can anyone help me out?
Upgraded to 2.2 after completing a successful downgrade.......just to see if the dreaded "sync error" would come back.
It did! So back to the old firmware again along with a firewall rule that blocks Zune from automatically getting the new "Upgrade"!
Just wanted to say thanks again for making my device functional again!
I don't know what's funnier, that fact that I actually purchased a Microsoft product, or the fact that I expected the device to function!
This is a refurb that I got from Woot (Never again I might add).
This board seems to be full of people "Hating" on this new software/firmware.......sure some of them are idiots but there is no question that this was pushed out too soon!
Par for course........can you say Vista!
