It does absolutely everything better than the Zune does and the software is much better as well.
I couldn't DISAGREE more -
Yes, we all know about iPods and how "great" they are - I am a current owner of a bricked on because of a bad firmware update - not to mention that the Touch/iPhone firmware update first released randomly bricked devices that WERE NOT hacked as well - so before people start talking about how bad the Zune is compared to the iPod - they both have had their share of issues. As for the software - I have tons of CDs from the 80's. Try importing album art to ripped CDs in iTunes vs. the Zune Marketplace. I was BLOWN AWAY at how easily the Zune s/w was able to do it after spending days with iTunes manually adding cover art only to have it dissappear again.
Let's not forget that this is Zune's second generation - still what could be considered early adoption - and they have already done what Apple couldn't do - allow previous generations of hardware to utilize current software & features. Everyone on this thread agrees on one thing: it is a firmware isssue. Know what that means? It means it can be FIXED with a software update. If I have to press down + back instead of "play" to conserve battery life until they fix the hibernate issue then that's fine. I still have wireless sync, the new layout, and my new marketplace and I don't have to buy a new Zune to get it.

A user with a Zune 30, the same battery problems as the other folks on the board, and still a satisfied customer.
The Zune is a great player. Microsoft slipped up on this though but I am sure they will get this resolved. I am sure not as fast as we all would like. To all you would be byers out there dont let this stop you from buying a great device once this issue is resolved you will be glad you got the Zune.
Ultraman1970 wrote:I might of found a fix for this problem everyone..charge your Zune fully and then do a hard reset on it (back button + up button) and let it reset. Then see how long your battery life is. Mine was doing this, but it's been two days and my battery has not done this. I seem to be getting even better battery life than I was before. I'm thinking that the Zune might not of reset itself when the new firmware went on it and so it needs to be reset fully. I would make sure to charge your zune all the way up though first..just to be sure it reads it correctly then.
Everyone might want to try this to see if it works for you. I did this last night after I fully charged my Zune and I was done with it for the day. It came right up today at work when I went to go use it. No stupid battery/charger icons, I was just able to use it as normal. This seems to solve the problem, for now anyways.....
Yes, I work at Best Buy. Yes, I sell more Zunes than iPods.
Well I left mine connected to my PC all night to try and charge through the USB and no luck, the battery was still dead this morning. So I took it to my car and plugged it to my car charger and drove around for 15 minutes. The battery charged enough that I was able to take it in and sync it with the PC.
However.... while it was connected to my car charger I discovered a new bug. The display will not shut off when it's connected to the charger. No matter what I have it set to 5 sec 15 sec, 1 min, it will not shut the display off until I disconnect from the car charger. I NEVER had this issue until the firmware upgrade. Anyone else notice this?

Worked for me too. Battery seems to be doing fine today after being off all night. Thanks for the tip, everyone.
