Your Zune tag name and Xbox tag name are the same. The points on your accounts are interchangeable, and your friends from Xbox Live all show up on your Zune friends and vice versa. They're practically the same thing, if they can just intermingle them.
As far as the keyboard goes, it's just a basic on screen keyboard that you input characters in 1 by 1 by moving the cursor to the particular character and selecting it. This would be extremely easy to do on the Zune, and it would open the door for Wi-Fi.
Sorry I wasn't real clear with that post. What I meant was not the Zune and Xbox ID could be the same, but the Zune, Xbox and LIVE id could be the same. My messenger friends could show up here as well and when in messenger my Zune profile page could be accessible.
They could have a built in messenger client in the Zune social website, just like AIM, MSN, ICQ, Jabber, and more specificially Google Talk has been doing for years. It's extremely simple to have the client embedded on your profile. They could also have the ability to use the messenger on your Zune device, as stated on the post I linked earlier.
This way, Xbox, LIVE, and Zune are all linked together. The Xbox is for gaming, the Zune is for music, the LIVE is for messenging and blog, ect.
It's that simple. Just allow people to go onto LIVE messenger with their Zune social accounts. You can access messenger from the 360, and 3rd party websites without ever having to install a client. Google Talk has prooved this. The majority of the users use the embedded version on the mail client! ICQ users have been taking advantage of ICQ to Go! on school computers, to use messenger without having to install anything.
