Features Needed For Next Zune Update...

1) Improve the efficiency of the list function w/ the ability to sort columns with priority. For example I want to be able to sort primarily by artist and THEN album.

2) Improve search pure and simple. Allow for dynamic searching in lists like Itunes does it and allow for the ability to manipulate data in the Search Screen for Browse. As it stands there is no search function for list view at ALL.

3) Make the software in general more drag and drop friendly. Allow for users to drag and drop album art/music/movies from Windows explorer into the Program.

4) Allow users to play music DIRECTLY off the Zune through the Zune program when it's connected to a PC. Making users copy them to collection defeats the purpose of portability

5) Allow users the ability to edit in batches. Nobody likes typing the same Album over and over

6) Fix the Bug that seperates Compilation albums into many seperate ones for no good reason. It shouldn't be that hard to offer users an option to Browse Albums only by ALBUM TITLE

7) Allow users to delete podcasts episodes directly.... it's amazing how we can't even do that.

8) Allow the Zune to double as a Portable HD. It's amazing how a restrictive company like apple lets you do this but the zune doesn't....

9) Talk to your USERS. Get a community manager out here that will get these items to the development team. You guys are fighting an uphill battle here, you need to get some real customer loyalty (not just crazy fanatics like st0icraven who scare off new users)

This is all they have to do to make this player an Ipod killer. It's upsetting how these relatively simple basic features turn the Zune from Hero to Zero.... so much so that I wish I bought an ipod instead. And I frickin hate Ipods....

I seriously hope the Zune team takes the time to read through this thread, otherwise they're going to lose a ton of customers and ebay is going to be flooded by tons of Zunes.

To my dismay, I haven't liked the new update.

1. The main menu words are too big on the device.

2. I have multiple genres of the same name.

3. Some album art shows up on the PC, but not on my device.

4. I can't play my videos that i converted into .wmv format [from an online source]

5. The videos don't have subcategories.

6. My radio won't land on certain stations that I normally get.

7. I want a manual equalizer, not just presets.

8. Is it just me, or does the repeat tick other people off as well? Sometimes is want to repeat just ONE song. not the whole album, and i can't do that. i was really hoping the new update would cover that. obviously not.

9. A CLOCK.

10. To have an actual Shut Off button. because sometimes i don't hold play for long enough, and it ends of running all night. By the morning it's almost dead.

11. To have "Go to Album" along with "Go to Artist" on the shuffled albums menu.

12. The heart rating is pretty stupid. I like the stars.

Bugs

1. Certain songs seem to keep resyncing
2. I have a folder with pictures that software refuses to put on my device. Gives an "unkown" error
3. Software keeps re-adding pics that i explicity removed from the device even tho I have chosen the option for pics "Let me choose". It should not be auto-syncing. It doesn't happen for every pic I remove. Just 1 folder
4. Why is the software converting some WMV video files before adding. Aren't WMV codec supported on the4 device?
5. Displays certain songs out of order when the disc number is not set for some songs...Songs are ordered fine in WMP11
   

Zune Firmware

1. Zune displays portrait pics up-side down when I set as background. It also rotates them,which is not neccesary (Since both the pic and the display are portrait)

All of the above + a option to find the album art / info / and lyrics for each song

Let me organize my photos more simply:  if I point at a folder, the CONTENTS of that folder should be at the top of the list.  Right now, it creates an extra level, and I have to drill down one level.

I like the new main menu... maybe they could have a display option about the font size, but I'd keep it the same.

How about the ability to REMOVE songs from the 'quick list'?  If you're actually browing the quick list, the option "Add to quick list" should be replaced by "remove from quick list".  There's no way to delete a song you've added by mistake, except to clear the list and start over.  Also, it'd be nice to convert the quick list to a 'permanent' play list, and to be able to edit play lists in the device itself (move songs around, add, delete, etc).

Add ability to organize vidoes.

WIth both photos and videos, let me create 'categories' for them, and manually assign videos and photos to those categories (basically, tagging for photos and videos, with user-defined categories that filter based on tags).  I'd like to do the same with songs, so I can go by 'mood' as well as the pre-defined categories.

Full smart-tag editing and batch tag editing capabilities.  And of course, fix the problem with the caching of bad album art, etc.  If I specify something (be it a tag, album art, etc) it should over-ride what Zune finds on the internet.  And of course, I should be able to 'reset' and go back to whatever it was, after applying my custom tags or art, etc. 

And yeah, PASTE ALBUM ART.  Don't make me save a file and store it on my file system somewhere, just so I can browse to it and open it.  Sheesh.

 

If only there was an indication the zune team was at least paying attention to the issues brought forth by users........

I wouldn't expect much to be done since these next 2 weeks are holiday season and everyone is off.

Yeah please let us in on what is being worked on. We are not going to hold you down to a time frame. It will just ease our minds and make us that much more at ease. I feel like the zune team is trying to act like there is no problems just so they can fix them and not have to address the current situation. That is not the way to do it. Tell us you hear us and say sorry.

**HUGE OVERSITE ALERT**

I get my 80GB Zune two days ago.  I am very excited.  I get all of my music loaded at home and it is ready to go.  I am ready to take it to work and show it off to all of my buddies.  I get to work, I plug it in to my workstation, browse to Device > Collection and I get nothing but HUGE disappointment because I can't play the music directly off of my Zune when it is plugged into my PC.  I really hope that this gets addressed very quickly.

For all of you who are having issues with music being scatter all over the place, I use http://www.mp3-tag.com/ to verify all of my music before putting into my music directory.  My Zune is absolutely gorgeous with all album art and tags.  It is a very useful tool.  It has a gorgeous and very user friendly UI.
