re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

So far my step dad was able to install the new software onto his x64ultimate. I *easily* upgraded my moms computer to run the new software. My computer, which happens to be vista bussiness 32bit, is the only one in my house having troubles...

How many people are using vista??

I'm running Windows XP SP2.

Seriously, where are the Zune team members? All they've done so far with this problem is post a solution that DOES NOT WORK! Do they enjoy it when people are frustrated and curse their names and their handiwork?

I have tried it on 2 vista computers and still the same error message:

___________________

INSTALLATION FAILED

Setup must stop because the required package 'zune' failed to install.

Could not open key: Microsoft/Zune............ Verify that you have access to that key or contact your support personel.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

If you have tried using the "Full Package" for the missing package error, please be sure you have a Firewall turned ON.

I had the OneCare Firewall off, and I would get the missing package error.  Once I turned it on and retried, it made it past that point, but unfortunately I am stuck at the Driver errror.

So you could try turning ON the Windows Firewall as well and see if that counts as the "missing package".

^JefTek. Just tried it, nothing changed.

(However I would recommend trying it, since this case seems to vary for every computer)

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

I too had several install issues on Vista Ultimate x86.  The error I saw was: "DIFXAPP: UninstallDriverPackages failed with error 0xE0000302".  My solution: completely uninstall the V1 software and then grab the full setup package.  Worked like a champ after that.

Holy smokes! After working on this all day, using the full Zune install package along with turning on Windows Firewall made the install work! Many thanks!!!

I'm running Vista ultimate 32bit and I'm getting the same error message too. "Zune" fails to install. I've tried the bundle package, Windows firewall is turned on. I am not a happy camper.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?
Hey guys, I just got mine to install. I got the "network error" "unable to access zune.msi" error. I was running IE6. I downloaded and installed IE7 and ran Unzoon to uninstall zune 1. Then I restarted and ran the Zunepackage installer recommended by microsoft for this error. I'm up and running. Good luck all.

word for word:

setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install
Custom action 23:51:36.151: Operation 'RemoveDriver' has finished with result 0x80004005
DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2
Error Code: 0x80004005

I followed the link and DL'd the package, but I keep getting the same message.
