I wouldn't suggest cracking the case unless you're desperate. I've still got the store warranty on mine so I could exchange it, I suppose, but that'll take a couple of days to do as the store I got it from is in the next town over.

the bigger picture here is that something very screwy has just happened and someone needs to be talking to us and someone needs to be solving the issue without having to crack the baby open.

I'd suggest waiting to hear from MS before opening up the case as a few people have mentioned. you never know what they are going to offer.

What I find more amusing, or creepy whichever you prefer, is that appearantly everyone with a 30G is having the same problem.  And, I dont know about everyone else, but my wireless is turned off.  So either something malicious was in the programming when I sync'd my device this evening, this is a hardware bug that has been there all along, or God hates 30G Zune's.  Take your pick!

my wireless is always off as no one is around me who has a 30gig Zune and it still did that for me.

all of the above. I wanna call microsoft but in addition to my zune being screwey, my phone crapped the bed today.  Sooooo no luck there.  Someone put in a good word for me.

I pulled the battery on mine, loaded, black screen, then rebooted, and locked up.... mine has already been opened to have the HDD replaced anyway.
