Like/Dislikes: Zune team seeking feedback!

For MarketPlace & Zune Pass to become more attractive propositions the following need to be dealt with...

- There needs to be a way to play DRM content on Windows Mobile devices.  I've propose that you consider creating a Zune branded Live SkyDrive for the purpose of storing & streaming media content to Windows Mobile devices.  This would support the widest array of partner hardware already on the market as only a Windows Mobile App & Data Connection would be required.  And by having a Zune branded Live Skydrive for storage..you can control aspects that will ensure the protection of property rights.

- Zune Pass is problematic in a Media Center/Extender environment because of the need to periodically renew licensing.  There should be some sort of License Manager service that can do this automatically.  If I'm storing my music on a Windows Home Server (which I do), there should be some sort of add-on that provides the necessary components to renew licenses and stream Zune DRM content from WHS. 

You got to do something regarding these issues!  And it can't wait 2-3 years.

-It needs work on it's editing features.  Its extremely dificult to edit the properties of a song.  The user should be able to right click on a song, album, or artist, click on edit, and an editing window should open to edit multiple properties of a song simultaneously. 
-A "shuffle all" button would be nice.
-The "list" feature under "Collection"/"Music" needs more display options.  The option to view media as the old zune player did would be fantastic and enable more customization to the user.
-(This is small) When you scroll over an album art in "Collection" it would be nice if the album art didn't blur.  It makes it difficult to read/see.
-Adding album art should go back to drag and drop (this one is a no brainer, it's an old feature).
-A shortcut key to the "Now Playing" section would be nice. (If there's already one I'm going to feel really ignorant. :) )
-For those of us who do not maximize the zune player it would be nice if it would remember our prefered window size.  This would prevent the user from having to resize the window after each launch of the software (which is ungodly slow).
-An option to delete items from the computer's memory while keeping them on the zune device would be nice.
-I don't see the point of having a "Social" tab, if you can't perform any functions from it.  The Social link should either just link to the zune website or the software should have some REAL functionality built in.

I have a Zune Pass, and love it!

But i think the one thing that would make it better is better music discovery features.

Before I got my Zune I was a member of the Urge service, before Rhapsody killed it, and the feature I loved on it was the dynamic playlists. 

It was awesome to be able to fine tune a playlist to find songs i liked, based on mood, newness of track, and popularity of track, and it would update everytime i synced my device... if Zune Marketplace incorporated that into the Zune Pass service, it would make the device even more perfect for me, but it won't be absolutely perfect until audible.com support is added! 

ANother thing the Marketplace needs is TV shows and movies... it wouldn't hurt if they were made available via the Zune pass either :-D

The Zune has some cool features to it. But I think it should have more to it. The Zune marketplace should have more videos, if xbox live marketplace has so many videos why can't the Zune. The videos that are there now are really something to laugh at in my opinion. Apple offers a lot more so it would only make since to have at least as many as they do. I know this probably won't happen put everyone who has a 30GB should have a why to upgrade to the 2nd generation Zune. The 30GB suck compared to the newer models. Zune cards should be on the Zune itself (cool features equal more Zunes sold). I don't have a Zune pass, if there is anyone who has it is it worth getting?

Zune Pass:  I don't have one, and don't see myself getting one too soon.  A lot of the music that I'm into is independently produced, and some of the artists don't even exist in zune marketplace.  More often than not, when I look for a recording, even if the artist is there, the recording isn't available.  These artists are big deals in their musical areas, but because they are self published and not domestic (US), I have to go directly to them in order to get the digital versions.  Until I can get 90% of what I'm looking for in the zune marketplace, I doubt I'll consider a zune pass.

Great idea, but my musical tastes don't align with market availability.

The one thing that has really been bugging me about the Zune software is the fact that the software does not update my library efficiently (sp?). Example: I recently changed my music folder from C:\Users\Mike\Music (I use Vista) to C:\Music for simplicity sake. During this change I also removed a bunch of old songs I never listen to anymore. But, when I changed my folders in the Zune software and hit Ok, the changes were not reflected immediately, or even upon a restart of the Zune software. The old music still showed up for a long time thereafter. It takes an inordinate amount of time to reflect such changes.

What I would love to see is some way to 'update library' or 'update database'. I would love to be able to push a button that said something along those lines and have the Zune software rescan and update my library accordingly to reflect my most recent changes. That would be really awesome.

Otherwise, I have no complaints. :)

I've posted about this many times before (http://forums.zune.net/81185/ShowPost.aspx), but to recap:

Zune Pass needs to be able to work with families better. Allow a child account to use a parent's Zune Pass so my daughter can download songs using my Zune Pass while logged in under her account, keeping the parental controls in place.

Additionally, Zune Marketplace needs a way to search within each section (let me search just in Podcasts) instead of every search returning everything in my collection as well as every section of ZMP.

Let me apply album art to podcasts that do not have art associated with them.

That's all I can think of for now. PLEASE look at the other post regarding child accounts!

First, move it into Windows Media Player...  Add the option for credit cards, or paypal, I don't like the pass or the points.  Add Movies, add the podcasts we have been submitting, add the ability for all of us to sell our own content.

I'm sorta new to the whole Mp3 world but here is a list of a couple things that would be good in my eyes!!!

1. The ability to remove songs from the quicklist right on the zune itself instead of deleting the entire list.
2. The 5 star ratings were so much better than the hearts.
3. A seperate area on the zune where we can listen to songs depending on the rating.
4. This I thought would be pretty cool. Being able to mark our top artists on our Zune and when we hook-up our Zune to the computer if the artist has new content we are notified.
5. Ability to remove videos and pics right on the Zune itself.
6. New skins in the software.
7. A.M. Radio.
8. T.V. Shows and Movies would be great!!!!
9. In the Marketplace don't display an album if I can't buy anything from it.
10. On the marketplace home page let us see more than the top 5 music videos. You let us see more of the playlists albums and songs why not videos.
11. Another good thing would be to upload our own user created playlists right on to the marketplace or next to our Zunecard. Also if anyone wants to download our playlist we should get credited for it.
12. More Zune gadgets.
13. While browsing we should be able to rate the albums and individual tracks of the artist.
14. Faster fastforwarding on the movies.
15. More of a selection of accessories for the Zune 30. mostly cases!
16. Rewards for hitting certain levels of plays on the Zune. (like 79 microsoft points for every 1,000 plays)
17. Ability to rearrange the main menu on the Zune.
18. A big one for me is a Newly Added section on the menu on the Zune. Sometimes I forget what I upload if there is alot at one time.
19. Is there anyway to make the software less of a memory hog? My computer freezes alot when I have the software open for to long!!!!
