An invitation to help me design a new feature

I"d like to be able to HEAR what another person has has their most heard or favorites.

A chat room for types of music.  (By type or artist)

News about the top musicians in each field.  Where are they performing, and a link to buying tickets

If I can thinkof more I'll let you know.

Ok I am in,I think the concept is awesome,I made soda pop for 37 yrs.so I can give you some input on witch flavors of the social I think should be  not be added. lol

And in answer to the other question above - about there being plenty of ideas, let's pick one and go - honestly, there are some PR/marketing efforts around my little feature development, so I'm kind of waiting for that to happen. I think we're going to see a good influx of new people to the forum once those things happen, and I'd like to give them a chance to weigh in, too.

Lesson learned for me: to be totally transparent, I was initially operating under a different, tighter schedule, so I made my initial post before the marketing and PR stuff was ready because at the time I thought I needed to get started. Then I got permission to have a looser schedule, so I could take more time in the idea gathering phase.

So at this point, I'm probably going to continue this brainstorming exercise until March 7. My apologies to those of you who have been with me from the start - I want to pick and idea and go forward, too, but I just feel like we've got so much potential with the other people who don't know about this yet (it hasn't been advertised AT ALL yet!) that it's best to wait.

Ideas - And a comment -

We can share a song for 3 plays by WiFi from Zune to Zune, why not let us do that here in the forums? We can now but it is multi-step.

By example I just purcahsed 3 Carlos Santana albums when a friend here reminded me of a long forgotten tune, and I've shared links to a few albums with people and been introduced to music I never would have listened to otherwise.  The easier you make if for us to share, the more we will do it.

I'm not sure how to discuss this topic, but Music has changed a LOT since I was the age of most of the people here, but is has changes in many ways -  one of them is taste.  In the 1960's you rarely listened to music from the '10, but now music is far more timeless. You wil fine 15 year old kids here listening to Jazz written and preformed before their parents were born.  This amazes me, and there is something here that is differnt that I just cannot put my finger on.  Oh well just brought it up.

Here is another thought for the social.

Right now it is focused around music, but the Zune let's you share photos, videos, and podcasts.  Something simple might be to let us share/display those items in our profiles as well.  That's more of the social aspect anyway.
