re: Zune Software Update Coming Today - 2.3 FINALLY!

Am I the only one who's having trouble getting the update? I've been into Settings/Software/General and clicked the Check for Updates button a dozen times over the past few hours, but still every time it comes back with "Your Zune software is already up to date." But if I click the About Zune button, it clearly says I still have version 2.1.888.0.

I have tried rebooting, restarting Zune, etc. and have even been to Windows Updates to no avail. I'm sure I could go download the full Zune package and reinstall, but that doesn't seem like it should be necessary. Perhaps this is being rolled out to users in stages and I'm just one of the unlucky later ones?

 

Very nice... very nice... great fixes.  Really helps out a lot and fixed my issues.  Still look forward to some new functionality like Genre support, Right-Click to look up in Zune Maketplace, etc.  But, this is a great bug fix release so far.  Excellent.

 

Woohooo podcasts work now I can wirelessly sync and not worry about the applicaiton on the desktop killing my podcasts....

out of curiousity, does this mean that my software will delete the multiple tracks that were synched?

Funny how I knew about this update too, the past 1-2 days, I've been clicking the Check For Update in the Zune Software, and today, bam! we have an update! :)

Yeah!!  Finally!  My faith in MS is being restored.  Good job guys!

Why is this?  Will it ever be fixed?

What was wrong with 1.4, at least I could interact with my media. Instead, I now have some fruity nonsense, reduction of fetures, and an inability to use the hardware I spent hard earned money on. Don't forget, you can't update your software either because of unknown errors. I appreciate the work that has gone in to trying to repair a disaster but what is the point of updating if it renders the program unusable. Right now I am trying to update to fix the update and am having the same problems. I have searched the forums and followed procedure but I don't think I should have to have a masters in networking or IT to listen to my music. Do me a favor and test your updates next time, I am regretting having paid $250 for a fancy paperweight.

I gave up. Since I wasn't able to get the update through the Zune interface, I finally just skipped the middle man and downloaded the full package and installed it over the top of my existing installation. It worked perfectly and I am now the proud user of version 2.3.1338.0. Can't wait to enjoy podcasts without having to resubscribe every other day!

Great update!  Instantly noticed the smooth groveling!  Can't wait to dig in and see the other updates!
