it still freezes on me. i play like two songs and it freezes. or i skip thru songs and it freezes. i try playing vids and it wont work same with games.
i tried to update it it said it did. then i went to sync it and it was about 14% and it just shut off and restarted cuz it froze for some reason.
so i restarted it w/e its called *erased everything off the zune* and i drained the battery and now as i am typing this i am charing it.
please if you find an answer to this..send me a message!!
i am dying w/o my music!!!
Mine (30GB old style) did this a few weeks ago. I normally have it plugged in the aux input in my car and listen to it EVERY day driving to work, then plug it into the PC at work all day, then it goes back in the car for the ride home and i never have issues. But the one time I want the thing to work it freezes on me. We took a long roadtrip, about 9-10 hr drive, and after the 3rd hour the zune froze. I made sure to charge it up fully the day b4, but it freaked out and acted like the batt. was dead, got stuck on the loading screen and none of the reset buttons would work (even with charge cable connected). I was quite annoyed because Driving through pennsylvania, there are just about NO radio stations to listen to, unless your a 50 year old hick or you have been locked in a bomb shelter since the early 80's (for some reason all the songs I heard as a kid are still considered "new" when you're in PA, but thats another story)
Anyway I got to NY I tried to connect it to my moms' PC and there was no change. I let it die than tried to restart it, but still nothing. finally I opened the Zune up and disconnected the battery, waited a bit, then reconnected. It works fine now and hasnt done it since.
(BTW the case opens up pretty easily, you just have to pry out the sync cable trim piece which reveals two phillips screws. remove those and then pry the sides of the case apart, and slide the back section up and over the headphone output) i nicked up the plastic a bit on mine but who cares, I was about to toss the thing out the window anyway

My Zune 30gb froze just like everyone else's did because of this freak leap year bug. Well anyways...I drained the battery like MS told me to do and waited until the battery notice would not even come up and then plugged it back in. That didn't work. My Zune just kept on getting stuck on the loading screen. I then tried to reset my device...that didn't work my Zune wouldn't even leave the loading screen. I then did the reset that deletes all the content off your Zune...my player still did nothing and just stayed froze on the loading screen. Well then I plug my Zune into my speaker dock instead of my computer and it worked. But I discovered as soon as I took it off it just goes back to the loading screen and freezes. Well I call Zune support. First off, the guy that I talked to was a completly rude. He then goes on to tell me I need to do a complete reset and delete all the content off my Zune...I told him that I already tried it and it would not work. Well anyways...I take the player off the dock and try to reset it ...it does not work. Well the tech support guy tells me to put it back on the dock and try to start the reset there...I do and it starts resetting...he then prompts me to plug it into my computer...I do and it stays on the reset screen and deletes the media...it stays on that screen for five, ten, fifteen minutes...the tech guy was getting fed up over the phone...I tell him it is still loading...He was starting to get rude because it was taking so long. He talked to me as if I were doing something wrong. He finally tells me that it should only take five minutes max and that there is probably something more severe wrong with my player. Well my Zune warranty ran out in Dec. and this bug made my player stop working on Dec. 31st so I figure that MS should fix my player because when it stopped working it was still in Dec. Well anyways the tech guy said it probably wasn't caused by the bug...but my player was working perfectly fine before this...how ironic. He then goes on to explain that the only thing they can do is charge me 129.99 to send it in and they will fix it. I only paid 120.00 dollars for this item last christmas on a sale online from Wal-Mart. So I wasn't going to pay more to fix it then what I bought it for. The guy told me that was my only option and asked if I could finish the reset myself. I told him sure and if it didn't work then I most defiantly would just buy another mp3 player but it wouldn't be made by Microsoft. After this incident I read on the forums about taking your Zune apart and disconnecting the battery. The only catch is that you forfeit your waranty...but since mine expired in Dec. I decided I had nothing else left to lose. Well I did this...and It did not work...big suprise. Well anyways, after talking to some of my friends...I came to the conclusion that I would purchase a new battery for my Zune as my last option and if that did not work I would buy and iPod. I ordered the battery off of ebay for $4.99. I recieved the battery today and installed it in my player and MY ZUNE WORKED!!! I'm so happy. But now I'm thinking MS is probably trying to scam people out of 129.99 bucks so they way they can just replace the battery and make a huge profit on the whole deal. So after this Zune player finally dies I will probably never buy another Zune player again. So if your Zune player is still not working I would recommend buying a new battery for your Zune and trying that out.
Yeah mine will do that every now and then all you have to do is hold back and up till it restarts
