re: Re: re: Help-frozen zune!!!!
okay now, my zune still isnt working after a week of buying it, and its pretty pathedic that zune posts a msg saying the problem is fixed. there are still many people out there with non-funtioning zunes. if ms is going to sell a product, it needs to be reliable. especially after a week of buying it. so they better find something to do to fix the other zunes that arnt working if we didnt do anything.

re: Re: re: Help-frozen zune!!!!
I'm confused, I keep seeing posts saying that if you opened your zune you voided the warrenty. What warrenty is this? If these 30 gig players are still under warrenty what is the problem, if they don't work, just send them in for repair. What I am thinking is that very few of these players are still under warrenty and therein lies the issue. Should m'soft repair old players that are no longer under warrenty to begin with? You need to give them time to think of something to do about this. Large corporations move slowly and M'soft is one of the slowest. I'm sure they will do something, after all thier business is sales, if they have no sales, then they have no business. Who among you is going to reccomend thier products if they stick it to you? Certainly not I. Lets not mention voiding a non-existing warrenty anymore, all that does is cloud the issue and possibly gives them an out.

Investments? You mean the whole $150 you spent minimum 2 years ago? Seriously you guys need to get off this stupid lawsuit nonsense. What damages do you have? How much do you think zune 30 gigs sell for? $50 max? You actually think a lawyer would take this case when maximum he can get per person is $50 or less? How about getting a job and buying a new one?

It really isn't important in the legal sense how much the investment is.  $1.50, $150.00, or $15,000.00, consumers have spent money on a product.
A product that has failed because of manufacturer negligence.  Damages caused are not what is important.  I could easily buy a new digital media player (after all of this, it sure as sunrise wont be a zune).  That isn't the point.  The point is accountability.  MS has displayed no accountability whatsoever for the problem, which they have admitted was due to faulty programming of the firmware.  And there are thousands of lawyers in this country who would love to take on a company like microsoft simply for the judgment to add to their courtroom portfolio, knowing that winning the case would pay for all expenses as well as earn them the right up their own hurly fee for future clients.

Yes most of them are chasing the mighty dollar, and like you, care little for what is right and proper compared to taking home coin, but I have already asked around, and even in my home town, there are lawyers who would jump at the chance to nail Microsoft tot he wall pro bono just to be able to say they did it.

re: Re: re: Help-frozen zune!!!!

I do have 30GB unit that's still under warranty... and if I do, others may as well.  And yes, for us there's the option of opening a warranty repair and getting the free ship to Texas box.  (Of course, you can't tell how long it will be gone when you use this service... mine should have been back last Monday... but I still haven't seen it - Fedex... what a wonderful shipping company).

My point was that once you'd taken your 30GB unit apart, you've basically released Microsoft from any responsibility because you've altered your equipment and thereby voided any possible warranty.  Once you've done this Microsoft really wouldn't need to fix anything.  I would expect that you may have a better leg to stand upon if you can show that you haven't physically altered your unit and it's failed due to Microsoft's poor quality of software.  (likewise, if you could load an alternative mp3 OS on it such as rockbox... that would remove Microsoft from being even partially responsible).

It will be interesting to see what Microsoft's response is to this whole situation.

re: Re: re: Help-frozen zune!!!!
Anyone who is still under warrenty would be a fool to open it. I still believe that the majority are not. Let me get this straight yours was supposed to be back 0n the 29th but the freeze didn't happen until the 31st. is that right. Do realize that you could be getting back a frozen machine. Isn't that a kicker. You should ease up on FEDEX, there are the Christmas and New Year holidays involved here. Also when my zune froze the first thing I did was check the status of my warrenty, even with the extended, which I bought, I was still out. I don't believe I am the only one in this situation. All I'm saying is that you shouldn't keep harping on voiding a warrenty that for the most case doesn't exist and that if you do have a warrenty you should send it in, you would be foolish not to.

Yeah... I realize that my box has likely been frozen at this point...  And Fedex gets paid to be distained... as long as their insurance is good, I don't really mind.
