Before I got my first Zune I owned a Toshiba Gigabeat S and used it with MTV’s URGE. Unfortunately, MTV decided to sell out URGE to Real Neworks (Yuck) and I was not gonna go down that road so lucky for me I just had to wait two months till Microsoft launched the second gen Zune.
After reading initial reviews I was itching to get one so I hit my local Target store to find the new Zune 80 the day it launched. As luck would have it, the Zune 80 was in short supply and I didn’t find one until the day after launch day at a Target store 30 miles away. But I was that determined to get one.
Seems the reason for the shortage was Microsoft’s inability to properly gauge demand for the 80g device vice the smaller Zunes.
Today I’m eagerly awaiting the LONG overdue launch of the Zune HD but I have a problem. I’ve been scouring the net to dig up info on the next gen Zunes and it appears the device won’t be offered in anything larger than 32g.
That’s a problem for me because at the current moment my Zune 80 looks like this:
5209 Songs, 271 Pictures & 117 Videos for a total of 33.45g of space.
If I were to purchase the Zune HD I’d have to remove my pics and videos to make more room for music but then I won’t have access to pics and videos when I wanted them. In a time when everything is going digital it seems odd that Microsoft would not offer larger versions of the Zune HD at launch.
Please don’t make the mistake you guys made at the launch of the Zune 80. As much as I want the Zune HD I’m not willing to buy the 32g device then have to turn around and buy a larger device a few years later.
I’m sure you are concerned about costs to the consumer, but I think its best to let the consumer choose the size that best fits their budget and I’m certainly willing to pay more if it means I’ll get to carry my entire library of content with me. Anywho, I wish you guys the best and hope the launch of the Zune HD is the most successful Zune launch yet.
Welcome to the Dawn!
