Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried the headphones that it came with, and a second set of earbuds that I keep at work.  Niether seem to make a difference.

yeah ive done the same it that doesnt work. i rly think its the firmware.

well the good this is that im on a trip in europe and this thing is restarting every 5 mins, then 10 then 20 mins and its really pising me off, i cant possibly keep this device so im going to be returing it. i hate this issue, it doesnt happen on and video or picture files, i have never played music straight for 20+ mins w/o a restart. icalled up ms and they made me do all this stuff that basicly was a waist of time. as working retail i have been selling zunes rater then ipods, but because this is making me so mad, i will tell all custmers about my experience with this pos. the device is beautiful, but the fireware/software/battery is ***.

ps, im going to rome, italy tomorrow sadly with out listening to music but on th bright side, watching diggnation "podcast".

 

ps keep this topic up, its a huge issue, a mp3 player that cant even play music... sad....

Well,  I turned off the wireless and have been going for about an hour now without a reset.  before that this morning it had been resetting about once every 10-15 minutes.  I will let everyone know if it stops crashing with the wireless turned off.  If that does it I really hope that MS can implement a fix quickly.  The wireless capabilities are one of the major features that set the Zune appart from the other devices on the market, but at least in the meantime I would be able to enjoy my music.  Does anyone know what intervals the wireless card in the Zune attempts to connect to the network?  This would help to isolate the issue.

I am over two hours of continious play without a crash (a new record).  It appears that my issue has something to do with the wireless function.  Turning it off resolved my issue.  Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

I've never turned wireless on, and I still have the problem, so I don't think that's it at all..

unfortunatly, this is the way it stands as of now:

1. People had the problem, then it's gone.
2. People had the problem and still have it.
3. People had the problem, then they returned the Zune and got an iPod.
4. People call tech Support, get frusterated and never get a single answer.
5. People do reasearch and find that the cause is either 1 of 3 major things.
    a. Static.
    b. Headphones.
    c. Firmware.
6. Some people just deal with it.
7 Microsoft has done jack to help, even though there is AT LEAST 7 or 8 different threads in this forum about it.

Microsoft, if you read this. You're losing A LOT of business to the ipod, I give you a week to either announce, reply, or actually MAKE a firmware update, quick fix, or some sort of something to help with the problem, before I suggest to everyone to buy an iPod.

iPods have NEVER had this problem, and I for one frankly am annoyed that it's been 4 days, and not a single glance from anyone important about this whole situation.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN...

EVERY FREAKING 5 MINUTES.

I'm getting an iPod in a week if there's no solution, or announced solution, this is crap.
