re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I've talked to 3 people today that got 80s at Circuit City. Wal Mart in my town doesnt have them, but Circuit City Does.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I just got my 30 a couple of weeks ago for $99 and I'm loving it. My laptop also only has an 80GB HDD, so there's really no point in me getting an 80. However, if you are searching, I would recomend that you pick up a phone book and call stores before you go driving around like a mad man. There's no point in driving blind.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I was expecting there to be a few more people out getting one this morning.  the problem with calling is that they don't answer the phone until the store actually opens.  The rarity of the 80 is so great that if they had any it would be very few and by the time I would have gotten there they probably would have been gone.  Luckily, no one had them.

Another sour Would-Be Zune 80 purchaser here.... I have the Zune 30, love it, can't wait to update it tonight... but REALLY want the Zune 80.  Kinda lame.  MSFT should at least let us know a definitive release date or allow us to Pre-Order the "Original" Zune 80!

Zune 30 --> Zune 80 --> Zune 120 --> ZuneHD

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I, like many of you, have also gone on the Zune 80 journey and came up with nothing.  The Zune rep I talked to had no idea what was going on and unfortunately didn't even really know what the Zune 80 was, I had to explain it to her three times before she understood.  This is unusual, usually Msoft phone peeps are on the ball, so I'll chalk it up as an aberration.

Well, December it is, it definitely would have been nice to beforehand though.  I went to a lot of trouble figuring this all out and altering my schedule for the release.

Are you guys that are coming up short even trying circuit city? I purchased one during lunch, one of the other bloggers at gotzune bought hers this morning. Both from Circuit City.

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero

I live in Houston (it's only the 4th largest friggin' city in the US). I've been to

4 Wal-Marts (24 hour),

3 Best Buys,

2 Targets,

2 Circuit Cities,

1 Comp USA,

and finally to Office Depot

= FRUITLESS

I feel cheated. I have been so loyal too.

** However this Social thing is really cool, and how about that firmware update? It will hold me down for a little while i Guess**

In the Denver Metro area, I called 4 differnt Game Stop stores, Sears, Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy etc... and Nobody had the 80GB version.... Except Circuit City, They recieved (1) ONE of the 80 GB versions, and I was fortunate enough to have snagged it :)

re: Zune 80 availability = Zero
I'm also getting a bit frustrated. I thought they would have them on zuneoriginals today so that i could order off that. I don't have a car so i've called every store in my town and there hasn't been a thing. I think the only place that has new zunes is target and those are just the 4 and 8 gig models. There is a CC like 20 miles from here, but i have no way of getting out there, and by the time i probably did, they wouldn't have any in stock. Why didn't they announce they were having stock issues?, people would maybe understood, instead of basically waking up christmas morning to find out all the presents are gone.

Circuit City is probably the best bet.  I just got mine a couple of hours ago, and I'm currently syncing about 60GB worth of goodness into it.
