In the past how much time was there between updates?  Some of the issues are just minor things they need to deal with.  Granted a lot should change.

re: From A Loyal Supporter From Day One - When Can We Expect A Statement?

No I want a rollback or update fix from the Zune team theselves.. not something, someone came up with to fix there errors that is unsupported. Your really missing the point here... it SHOULDN'T be this hard.

We are getting an update/upgrade folks! Since everyone, no matter the device is getting the update we really don't have a choice to lose the features they removed and we don't have a choice of wether or no it may mess-up your metadata etc and all the other issues it has caused. What your missing is, at this point we are at thier mercy for a 'beta' at best software solution because we are ALL being forced to the update regardless of Gen 1 or Gen 2. If you are going to force all of the people who purchased a Zune prior to this new version to use the software you sure as heck shouldn't cripple or remove what they had and or put it out as buggy as it is. Furthermore, if you make a big mistake with the release have the decency to come out and say so and let us know when it will be fixed.

After much investigation, debuging, attempting to repro and working with our beta community to test the scenario it appeared it would be a very rarely hit issue and if some hit it we would need to support our users through it. We see from the number of users hitting this that that was incorrect.

This statement alone scares the heck out of me. 'Rarely hit issue' ... look at all of the posts on here and every other Zune forum. Do something! Or at the very least make an annoucement or press release letting us know you are doing something about it and when we can expect an actual fix to all the issues. This is a nightmare and the largest PR snafu I have ever seen. Talk about alienating your most loyal supporters.

I am just getting more steamed along with the rest of you as the hours go by and we hear nothing but silence.

Actually, they should be working overtime to get this situation fixed. Word of mouth advertisment is the best form of advertisment and if the advanced/early adopter crowd is not happy then...

MS already has a history of releasing shoddy software and this incident does not help them at all. The project manger/leader had no business approving the reduced feature set. With all the new hiring on the Zune team one could guess that they didn't get the cream of the crop...

Issue a statement about the expected time frame for these features to be put back and that will go a long way. Silence is not golden in this situation

I saw this too, and was shocked. Persons who love the Zune are being rear-ended / screwed by the new zune software, and they are celebrating. Repulsive.

Its not like we are asking for 100 new features that no one has planned for...

We are asking to fix the mess of a bug-ridden software, and return the features you removed. Put out a release to fix all of the issues cause by the faulty software and at least give us the ability to edit our own metadata for audio AND video without using an additional piece of software.

Have some decency and make a statement.

I agree with the original post. My friend was right when he said I was a fool for buying a zune. The only way this could be made up to us is for the dev team to admit that the software needs to be worked on and give us a timeline of sorts. I spent 4 hours last night trying to get a album taged properly with no sucsess.

Lets not forget about the ability to convert your mp3s to WMA to save space on the unit. I loved the fact that I could save all my songs on hard drive in MP3 format and then have the software convert it WMA, That feature seems to have disappeared and they are saying it is no longer supported. Not a good thing at all.... Anyone know of a good batch converter that will keep my my info for each song when converted?

re: From A Loyal Supporter From Day One - When Can We Expect A Statement?

I have been trying to post to Cesar on zuneinsider.com but he is not approving any of the comments regarding the bugs in the software. It seems as if anything negative regarding the software issues are being glossed over and ignored and no one is going to comment on them. Nor so they even want to admit they exist. This is a dark road they are going down.
