re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it
Well thats a help ;)  Thanks, i was somewhat retarded.  I was actually curious about bulk editing too - but following that method I can see it doesnt seem to support it even with multiple tracks selected - something that might be nice for a future version, this works for now however.  Thanks!

Now if only I can get my wireless sync issue fixed... ;)  http://forums.zune.net/3623/ShowPost.aspx

I miss the old software, but I'm hoping with time to learn to like the new software.  So far I can't stand it so we'll see how that goes.

Am I retarded or can you not edit the id3 info for tracks that are missing it in the new software other than the annoying one-at-a-time limited info option?  I have like 300 tracks in unknown artist and can't for the life of me figure out how to rename the artists for them..  Great.. I can see the properties for each track.. but I cant edit any ID3 info for them in that window?  Am I missing something?

Going to the list view for music you can see the extended metadata. You can right click on the column header to get more track attributes as well. From here a right click on a field will allow you to edit. You can tab/arrow around to edit multiple tracks in a row. Changes by the user to these fields will be written back out to the wma/aac/mp3 files.

The problem is that you have to do everything one song at a time.

I also don't like having to save album art to my computer in order to tag onto the album... On iTunes and the older software, I could paste it directly from the internet.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it
i hate the new software because every time i try to go to the marketplace or do anything it keeps saying that i need to update my software and it's not letting me update it because i'm missing a plugin and it won't let me download the stupid plugin. I can't do anything. I've downloaded it and the stupid message won't go away, so i'm stuck not being able to do anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't like the look of the new UI, and I was very upset with the compulsory registration that was required to use it after the update.

So I like the new look and stuff on the Zune but the software is horrid. The thing is slow and too flashy. The old Media Player like layout was great. Everything was right there in front of you, a few quick clicks and you got a playlist made. I can't find a good chunk of my songs. They seem to be under weird names and album titles where when i try to edit them I find I have to do things one at a time. Bulk editing or just pulling the info from the net was great. They need to give a classic view option or something.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it

Just when I thought the last version was the worst software ever, I installed this POS and found the newest worst software on the market. This software is NO, let me repeat, IS NOT A SOFTWARE TO USE FOR MUSIC.

YOU CANNOT SORT OR FIND ANYTHING BY GENRE. IS THIS THE DUMBEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN IN A MUSIC FILING SYSTEM?

480gb worth of music sorted by Genre on my NAS. My entire collection revolves around Genre, and now I cannot sort by it in the software. It is currently syncing 37gb of music onto my Zune, if when completed, and I go to play music by genre and it is not there, I am going to sell my Zune on eBay and get me an iPod again.

Why can I not EDIT MUSIC INFORMATION ON AN ENTIRE ALBUM? WOULDN'T A MUSIC FILING SYSTEM ALLOW YOU TO EDIT MUSIC TAGS? Oh sure, I can change the album title, but what if the Band name came in wrong, or the tracks or the Genre? Oh wait, nobody used the god damn genre, so don't have to edit that. Do I need to install WinAmp on my machine and go back in and edit the freakin metadata for the files?

The first version of the Zune software I would give an F grade to. WHAT IS LOWER THAN AN F GRADE BECAUSE THE NEVER VERSION IS WORSE. PERIOD.

I actually like this software better than the previous one.. its really fast and fun

I do to RadJer, The only problem i had with it was the album art/missing tags thing. But someone posted a fix for it and now its working great. I feel bad for these others.I don't get why they are having all these problems. I see people posting that they can't edit. All i did was right click on artist or songs to do that. I did run into some video podcast that don't play, but i don't know if thats a software problem or the podcaster's fault.

re: Any one who hates the new software say something about it
You can sort by genre in the "list" view.  You can also add any fields you want from there (Right click on the columns and choose edit columns).  You can also edit (albeit one at a time) all the ID3 info in the list view as well (Right click -> edit) - bulk editing would be nice...... but it works for me for now.  Aside from lacking bulk editing, it's not too bad in list view.
