PETITION FOR ZUNE EQUALIZER

I like to be in control of the sound settings and can't afford $200 earbuds, but I'll have to agree with BinaryIdiot. It's not like Microsoft will have a massive recall and install the required chipset to support an EQ. So I have another question: Does anyone know how well the Zune 30 performs while jogging? I'm worrired about the drive getting damaged while working out. Btw, I'm thinking of exchanging my Zune 8gb for a comparable Samsung YP-P2. It's an 8gb flash player and it has a graphic EQ, Fm radio, touchpad and bluetooth. CNET gave it a pretty good review.

Yeah please give us the EQ back on the 4/8/80. Its a very necessary feature and I even have really nice earphones. Please please give it back.

What everyone doesn't understand is that they can't just add the EQ through a software update, it requires hardware that they left out of the Zunes, there will be no EQ no matter how many people sign this petition. Just get better headphones and quit crying about something that isn't even important.

Guy, this may be true for you but not all of us have perfect ears. Over the years I have lost some sensativity to certain frequencies due to the noisy environments I work in (and yes I wear protection when possible). Without the ability to boost these specific frequencies the music just plain sound wrong.As we are talking about a device whose primary purpose is to provide an enjoyable audio experience the lack of the ability to make the audio sound correct  essentially renders the device useless. So, no I tend to agree with the premise of this petition.

I'm sorry for the situation you're in, and i apologize if i sounded unsympathetic to people in your same position. However, i still think it is ridiculous to call the device useless just because it doesn't have an equalizer. Perhaps "useless to me" would have been more appropriate? Personally, I find the device to be terribly useful and definitely the best music player i have ever owned.

I (apparently) have small ears, as every ear bud headphones i have ever tried start to hurt after a bit of listening. Now, to me, this is a huge annoyance as i have to either deal with it (which i do) or go buy better headphones (which i can't afford). For me to call the entire device "useless" would indeed be "ridiculous" as i said before.

Just because the Zune team didn't taylor the Zune to each person individually, doesn't mean it's useless. Sure it means it could be better, but please don't call it useless.

There are other options.

The old Zunes have the EQ chip in them THE NEW ZUNES DO NOT HAVE THE CHIP, everyone needs to stfu about an EQ and pick up some higher quality headphones[like the Sennheiser HD 485s].

For somebody who likes to tailor the sound by artist and genre, I like to at least have the EQ presets.
